MUSCATINE - Gertrude Rose Walters, 91, of 2421 Lutheran Dr., died Friday, Jan. 28, 2000, at Lutheran Homes. Services will be at the St. Mary Catholic Church. The Rev John P. Gallagher of St. Mary's and Rev. Robert Ahlstrom of the Lutheran Homes will officate. Pallbearers will be Mike Doyle, Tim Doyle, Randy Walters, Bill Houser, John Weber and Harold Kurriger. Honorary Bearers will be Steve Tripmacher, Clay Timmons and John Houser. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home where a Rosary Prayer service will be held. Memorials may be made to the Lutheran Homes. Mrs. Walters was born on Nov. 30, 1908, in Muscatine, the daughter of Luther and Margaret Weber Houser. She married Arthur Henning in 1929, he preceded her in death in 1932. She later married Joseph Walters and he preceded her in death in 1978. She was a member of the St. Mary Catholic Church and a former member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Joan of Arc No. 524. She was a bookkeeper for Kranz Florist Shop for many years. Survivors include a son, J. D. Walters of Muscatine; a step-son, Charles Walters of Oconomowoc, Wisc.; a daughter, Betty Doyle and her husband, Eugene, of Muscatine; five grandchildren, Michael Doyle, Tim Doyle, Lisa Timmons, all of Muscatine, Randy Walters of Washington, Ill., and Mindy Yonish of LeClair; and seven great-grandchildren, Ben, Chase, Colton, Alex, Amanda, Taylor and Duston. She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; a daughter, Debbie; a brother, Wilfred Houser; and two sisters, Agnes Kurriger and Marguerite Tripmacker.
