BETTENDORF, Iowa - Joyce Walters, 51, of Bettendorf, died Tuesday, June 6, 2000, at the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City following a long struggle with cancer.
A Memorial service will be held at Asbury Methodist Church, 1809 Mississippi Blvd. in Bettendorf. The body has been cremated.

A wake service will be at McGinnis-Chambers and Sass Funeral Home, in Bettendorf. Memorial contributions can be made to Gilda's Club in memory of Joyce Lynn Walters so other cancer patients can continue to receive the support they need.

Mrs. Walters was born Feb. 28, 1949, in Berwyn, Ill. She married Daryl Walters on April 7, 1984, at the Asbury Methodist Church in Bettendorf.

She worked at Quad City Testing in Mount Joy as an office administrator for 18 years.
She was president of QCMA management association and was a member of St. John Vianney Church in Bettendorf. She was an avid volunteer at Gilda's Club, becoming a board member early on. Her dedication and perseverance helped establish the local Gilda's Club.

Some of her favorite activities away from her work and family were snow skiing, boating, running, teach dance, as well as hosting many family and friends gatherings.

Survivors include her husband, Daryl; a son, Jason Kohler and his companion, Kristen Cramer of Alameda, Calif.; a son, Corey Kohler of Austin, Texas; a daughter Cynthia Kohler and fiance, Heath Eagle, of Fort Worth Texas; a grandson, Hollis Kohler; cousins, Fay Stocklein, Kay Herbig, and Jay Howell, all of Chicago; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Roger and Marian Walters, of Muscatine; sister-in-law, Barbara Greenhaw and her husband, Jim, of Muscatine; brother-in-law, Alvin Walters and his wife, Debbie of West Liberty; and several nieces and nephews and their families.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and Fran Strauser
