Hi John, you are a Ware Long descendant also. Our common ancestor is Christopher Long and Sarah Turner. I would be very interested in any biographical information or photographs on your family line. If you could possibly look at my report as follows and correct or supplement any information, I would really appreciate it. I am working on collecting information on all of the descendants of Christopher Long.
ELISHA VANBUREN7 LONG (ELISHA6, CHRISTOPHER5, WARE4, JOHN3, RICHARD2, JEREMIAH1) was born March 07, 1837 in Saulsburg, Henry Co., Indiana, and died September 09, 1928 in Las Vages, New Mexico. He married ALICE REBECCA WALTON April 20, 1873, daughter of BOAZ WALTON and MARY MUSSELMAN. She was born January 25, 1850 in Summit Hill, Pennsylvania, and died December 1940 in East Las Vegas, New Mexico.

Notes for ELISHA VANBUREN LONG:

"Elisha VanBuren Long (No. 73) was born March 7, 1837 in Saulsburg, Henry County, Indiana; married Alice Rebecca Walton in Warsaw, Indiana, April 20, 1873. As a lawyer, Honorable E.V. Long earns the reputation of being one of unusual ability, one who always enjoys the confidence of the court, holds the esteem of the bar, and wins the respect of the jury. He first served on the bench by appointment of Governor Henricks of Indiana for the circuit composed of Kosciusko, Marshall, and Fulton counties of that date, his home being at Warsaw, Indiana, at that time. He was subsequently elected Judge of that same circuit and served thirteen years on the bench. In 1885, President Cleveland appointed him Chief Justice in New Mexico. In that office he acquitted himself so satisfactorily to all that President Harrison, who succeeded President Cleveland, notified him through the Attorney General that his resignation would not be required. Notwithstanding, his acceptability to the new administration, he voluntarily retired and resumed his practice of law in the City of Las Vegas, New Mexico, where he now lives (June 1, 1908)."
