Walz (Waltz) from east Ukraine.

Hello,

I'm trying to find my relatives. My grandma was Magdalena Walz (Waltz). She born in (1902 or 1912) in Ukraine, near Yekaterinoslavl (now- Dnepropetrovsk) city. She died in January 1974, burried in East Prussia (now Kaliningradskaya oblast, Russia).

She married Kuzma Chayukov (1909-1952). They have two children- my uncle Vladimir (1931-1997) and my mother- Liudmila (1936-2002).

When my mother was alive she told me that they lived in village about 30km from city. I don't remember exactly name of this village but it was germanian name. Some time ago one man said to me that it was village Sinelnikovo.

My mother told me that when she was small girl (in WWII) all their family was taked out to Germany by nazis. After war soviets repatriate them and deported to Siberia to concentration camps for 10 year. All contacts with other relatives were broken.

Some time ago one man said to me that part of family stayed in Germany. He said that there was my grandma's two sisters.

Please help me.

Thank you.

I have created a Waltz web site where I am posting information, pictures, documents, etc on the descendants of George M. Waltz & Catharine Hines. George and Catharine settled in the Cambria County area of Pennsylvania. Also included on this web site is an updated Register Report on this family.

Please take a moment to look at the information available at this site:

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~gartner/waltz.htm

If you connect to this family and have any corrections or additions, I would be most grateful if you would contact me.
Origination of Waltz surname

I a married to Bert Waltz of Williamsport, PA. His father always said that the Waltz name was shortened from something like "von Waeltzen". The speling is probably rough. Grandpa Waltz also said that The Lost Dutchman (of the mine fame) was a distant relative. Any information on either of these queries would be greatly appreciated.

George Waltz of Floyd Co, IN

The "Waltz Family History and Genealogical Record" ... indicates (on Page 85) that George WALTZ and Anne BREWER are the heads of the 6th Branch. Does andyone have anything on old George or this line of the family? Yes - I have a copy of the book.

My line runs from his youngest son, John WALTZ (1795-1860?). John married Susan KEITHLEY (1801-1860?) in 1819 in Harrison County, IN and settled in Floyd County, IN.

I have traced a number John Susan's children to Oregon, Washington and California. Since my relations came west on the Oregon Trail, the family out here seems to have had little knowledge of what happened to rest of the children back in Floyd County.

I would also like to get the vitals for John and Susan's deaths, if anyone knows. Thanks.

Steven Waltz Morrison, Olympia, WA

My Waltz family generated from Germany. But because I am unable to talk with any of my family members who would know the slightest detail that might point me in the right direction I'm hereby stumped.

The only real information I do have is as follows:

Oliver Waltz was born about 1883 and married a woman named Mary but the last name is unkown.

He is my great-great grandfather

He had a son named Ralph who was born about 1903 and married Clara Sanus.

Because the information is so recent most censes records are not available yet. The few people I do have died in PA.

If you have any information please e-mail me.

Thanks
Tiffany

George Waltz - 1826 from Germany

Hi,
Am trying to find any kind of data to tie George A Waltz to his arrival here from Germany in 1826. He was born in 1816 in Germany and travelled here with his father - also George in 1826. Have this info from an excerpt from a book but can't find his entry port or place in Germany.

Have found he and his family in many census records in Pennsylvania from 1840 on (around the Sterling or Dreher Townships). Can't find him getting here...hmmm

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks! - Melody

Waltz in Indiana

My ggg grandparents were Solomon Waltz who married Hana Gatle 11/20/1822. I have a copy of the hand written marriage license. I am not sure, but I think the marriage took place in Wayne County Indiana. Their daughter Caroline married Joseph Boone Lafeber. The Pedigrees prior to Solomon & Hana seem confusing to me. Anyone have information on this line? E-mail norelbon@aol.com

Waltz Family Bible

Sarah J. Waltz, b. 2/14/1843; Gertrude Waltz, b. 1/24/1862 in Doylestown, Wayne County, Ohio; Annie Lara Waltz, b. 10/31/1863; Jennie Waltz, b. 12/16/1867; Charley A. Waltz, b. 2/8(?)/1871 in Lucas, Richland County, Ohio; Frank Waltz, b. 12/14/1877; Fred Waltz, b. 11/28/1880; Willie Waltz, b. 10/15/1883. There is also an entry that has been erased. I think the entry is Anthony Waltz, b. 7/12/1833. There are photographs in the Bible along with some other papers. One photograph has Jennie Waltz and Levi Tate written on the back and another one has a Tate surname. I hope someone can use this information. If you would like more information, please e-mail me at big_jim@carlsbadnm.com.

Hungary ?

Does anyone know of any Waltzers that migrated to Hungary? My suname is Walczer, and records on ancestry.com seem to indicate Waltzers present there. One Waltzer may have changed his surname to Walczer, probably during the hungarization of Hungary during the exit of the German population.

Waltz family in Washington Co., PA

I am trying to discover the names of the parents of Thomas C. Waltz who was born in PA in 1844;he died in Washington, Washington Co., PA in 1902. I have a biography that states a Daniel Waltz brought his bride, Margaret Bedillion of Fayette Co., PA, to Washington, Washington Co. sometime before 1810. They had 8 children. Daniel was a painter and chairmaker by trade. He could read and speak German. Daniel died in 1836 leaving 5 children under the age of 17. I believe he might be the grandfather of Thomas but can find no documentation as to Thomas' father's name. Would appreciate any help with this problem.
