Hmmm...Wangerin connections...

Carrie Stave  (View posts) Posted: 15 Feb 2001 8:15PM GMT
There seems to be 3 or 4 Wangerin families in the U.S. that immigrated from what I can see.

There's mine who were from Pielburg, Neustettin, Pommerania, Prussia, settled in Effington Twp., Otter Tail, MN:
Eduard A. Wangerin & Johanne Caroline Wilhelmine Raske, children:
Albert Eduard Anton
Auguste Albertine Wilhelmine
Wilhelmine Henriette
Wilhelm Eduard Gustav
Bertha Emilie
Louise Bertha Marie (my great-great grandma)
Gustav
Anna Bertha

gets confusing with the names...
The MI bunch...WI bunch...and OR which I finally think I found a connection to. There was a Richard Wangerin m. Emma Gasche, children Henry, Frank and Louis who was b. in OH, died in Effington, Otter Tail, MN who had a brother Gustave John m. Amelia Gasche whose descendants live in OR. Richard and Gustave's parents were Frank and Minnie (Marquat) Wangerin who died in Effington.

Being that I have my Eduard's father listed as Frank...I'm thinking Frank and Eduard who both settled in Effington were brothers or at least cousins...

And there has to be connections with the MI family as mine is from Stettin.

Any more clues?? This is going to drive me mad since I know they have to be connected being such an uncommon name and with so few main families.

Richard & Emma Wangerin were my great grandparents. I have been trying to connect them with the Eduard Wangerin family for some time and have not been able to connect them.

If you have additional information on my Wangerins I would love to hear back from you. I do have some Death certificates and additional information from your Wangerins.

You can contact me @ lnbberry@netscape.net

I am trying to locate the birthplace and any other information on Dorethea Sophia Wangerin who married Christian Panick (not sure of this spelling). They had a daughter named Christine Henriette Florentine Panick who was born 19 FEB 1822 and she married Frederick Wilhelm Schutz 16 NOV 1844. They lived at one time in dorf alt Murin or Marin, ?oeslin, Hinterpommern, Preussen.(This is taken from a family bible written in German)

Any info regarding this family or area would be greatly appreciated!

Yikes that's an old email! I found my way back here.

If you are from the Otter Tail, MN clan . . . I have a website with pictures of Wangerins from my great-grandma Eva (Hilliard) Stave's scrapbook. Her mother was Louise (Wangerin) Hilliard, daughter of Eduward & Johanne Wangerin

sigh. Pardon my loss of mind. I work overnights, it's 12 p.m. and I have yet to go to bed for the day. After I read that last message I said out loud, "It might help if I posted it."

Carrie,

Do you have a working web site with the Wangerin pictures you mentioned in a posting back in 2003?

Thanks, Harvey

No I don't anymore. I did until last summer. I had too many people posting/passing on my information as their own without any reference to my site. (This is mainly because of a different family branch of mine, not a Wangerin descendant).
