We're related!!!! I am from Mathias Wangler's line...My grandfather was John Soloman, my father was Ralph Wongler (b. 1927)...Family is buried at St Rupert's Church (Yankeetown/Boonville) on Red Brush Rd.

I am related to Mathias Wangler. He came from Germany on the St Denis http://www.immigrantships.net/1800/denis500722.html
When he arrived in the US, his name was changed to Wongler because the people in charge of immigration didn't realize our name was not spelled as pronounced. For a while researchers thought they were 2 different people. He settled in Indiana (Warrick County) and helped some of the other families he came here with build St Rupert's Church (Red Brush) We have several family members buried there including my mother and father (Ralph Wongler). The church actually has a book on all the families and it goes into detail, that's where I learned this much.

I am from he Dorlinbach Wanglers...All I know is Mathias Wangler came here & settled in Indiana (Warrick County) and helped build St Rupert's church in Red Brush (Rd.) I would like to know more about the family as well. I have wanted to go to Germany for a long time to meet family members that still live there.

Clearly, there are Wanglers in Illinois, Iowa, and West Branch, Michigan.

However, all of my Wanglers are in Metro Detroit.

Thanks for the reply, Bob. I was wrong and right with my info - Johannes Himmelsbach and Maria Anna Wangler are not the parents of my great great grandmother, but they are in my Himmelsbach line. Are you connected in any way with the Himmelsbachs? I am looking for the father of my great great grandmother, as apparently my ggg grandmother was single when she had her. I am a decendent of Mathias Wangler whom was from Dorlinbach, Baden which is part of the Schuttertal district. I can give the name of a man that might be able to help you in that district who is a Wangler the Wanglers in Dorlinbach have a very extensive family Tree going back ot 1601 I do not know if we are connected but we may be.

Am interested in Maria Anna Theresia Wangler (born about 1788, Baden, Germany) who married Joannes Mathias Himmelsbach (born 2/22/1785, Schuttertal, Offenburg, Baden, Germany). They possibly may be the parents of my great great grandmother, Adelgunda Himmelsbach (born 1/28/1821, Schuttertal, Lahr, Offenburg, Baden, Germany).

I can offer info re Conrad Wangler b. 1796 in Buchenbach, Baden, moved to Freiburg, thence to Pittsburgh Pa. (where trhe children were born), to Franklin County, Mo., and finally to St. Louis. I have identified his father and grandfather.

His wife was Theresia STEIGER, born about Sep 1806 somewhere in Baden. I do not know where she was born, when they emigrated, when or where they married.

A bunch of Wanglers in Detroit?? I didnt think there were that many down there. Maybe you should look within the state for your roots. I am a Wangler. My dads family is in West Branch , Mi. . His grandfather was one of I believe 5 brothers that came here from Germany through Canada. I personally can only account for 3 of the boys staying in the WestBranch area. (some stayed in Canada. *hint hint*) If you go to West Branch or at least look at their phone book you'll find more Wanglers than you know what to do with. My parents have pics of many of the ancestors. There is a Centennial farm. (not in the family anymore) etc. A couple of them were stone masons. The houses they built are still standing and lived in in Ogemaw County. Let me know if you want to know more. I know my dad has a cousin that has researched family history back to at least the early 1800s. She traveled to Germany and went to libraries.... etc. Email me. Say something in the title that I will recognize.

TOMLINSON FRANCINE WANGLER March 11, 1922 to Feb. 27, 2004 Francine was born March 11, 1922, in Naperville, Illinois. When she was six, her family moved to the good climate, and she grew up in National City. Francine graduated from Sweetwater High School in 1939. She had a penchant for marrying Sweetwater football stars. In 1939 she married Phillip Chase, the MVP of the 1938 team. Sadly, Phillip died approximately one year after their wedding. In 1946 she married Roy Tomlinson, the MVP of the 1937 team. Between marriages, Francine served in the Navy. Near the end of the war she was selected to be the first wave chief in San Diego, but she chose to leave the Navy and become a loving wife and mother. In 1976 Roy, an ironworker, retired. They moved to Martinez Lake, Arizona, twenty miles up the Colorado River from Yuma, where they lived a happy adventure until Roy ' s death in 1997. In 1999 Francine moved to an independent living retirement complex in Yuma. She enjoyed five years with new friends and experiences. Francine was preceded in death by her two younger brothers, Jim "Luke" Wangler and Pat Wangler. She is survived by her children, Jim, Tom, and Sally; by her grandchildren, Kristin, Heather, Mike and Siena, and great-grandson, Imazio. A Memorial service will be held at Little Chapel of the Roses, Glen Abbey Memorial Park, Bonita at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 7. Thank you, but please no flowers. My husband is the great-great grandson to Edward Wangler. Edward is the son of Charles Maritn Wangler(dob 13 Jan 1880) and Nettie May Wright(dob 3 Apr 1890). I got the information I have from the family bible. It is in possession of my inlaws. Eva May Wangler is Edwards sister and married Clarence Dunn. I see you also have ties to the Bakers,Wrights & Smiths.I don't have very much on them.The Wanglers,only what I've garnered from microfish many years ago,on the children of Mathias Wangler & Barbara Rombach.All I had was: Carolina,b. 1852; Mathilda(Mattie)b. 1853,Ellen,b. 1854 & Charles Francis,b. 20 April 1854(all in Spencer Co.Ind) I had a Londel Wangler,b. 21 Sept. 1834,d.27 Feb. 1883,buried at St.Ruperts in Red Brush-m.Cataherine E. Werkman.They had a son,George W. b. 11 Feb. 1866;but i'm not sure who he was. As to Nettie Mae Wright,who m.Charles Martin Wangler;I have her father as James Wright,b. July 1840,KY and mother as Mary Jane Baker,b. Feb. 1853,Ind;d.4 Jan 1910.She's buried in Ebenezer Cem.in Hatfield,IN.I have no idea where in KY James WRight came from or his parents;nor anymore on Mary Jane Baker.
