I have some ancestor's with the last name Wardle showing to have lived in Chesterfield and all their children having been born there. John Wardle wife Mary(Bruce) children were Ann b. 01/18/1778, Maria b. 01/01/1780, Sarah b. 04/11/1784, Mary b. 02/25/1787, John b. 06/01/1789, Isaac b. 02/10/1793, Matilda b. 12/27/1795 and Lydia born 12/11/1796. We think that Mary may have been a second wife. We can not seem to find much info on her. Her maiden name was Mary Bruce we think and was born in Lenton Docks, Notts, England. And show Lydia on another sheet having been born in Colton, Leicester, Eng.

I'm trying to find out more about John Wardell such as when and where he was born and who his parents were.
All that I know of John is that he married Anne Donckly 22/10/1801 at Abbey St.Albans.
Anne had been born 6/12/1782 at Houghton Conquest Bedfordshire.
Because they had married at St.Albans and not Houghton Conquest makes me think John came from St.Albans.
The only other information I have is that one of their children Thomas moved to London and married in Hanover Sq. on 4/2/1824 having been christened at Abbey St.Albans on 26/5/1802.
By the time of his marriage Thomas had changed the spelling of the surname to Wardle.

Roy Wardell, Joseph Wardell- Wexford County Michigan

I am searching for information regarding Roy Wardell or Joseph Wardell. I hit a wall searching for information about the family which lived in Manton and Cedar Creek Michigan from the late 1800's to the early 1900's. Roy Wardell born September 1883 or 84 appears to have been adopted by Joseph Wardell probably from a close family member (uncle maybe?). Roy had at least seven children: Edith, Dorothy, Glen, Robert, Roy Jr., Howard and Joseph. He would have been born in Michigan. He died sometime around 1940 give or take a few years.

I am also interested in getting more information on Joseph- He was born 1855 in Michigan- His mother was from New York, his father was from England. From at least 1880 he lived in Wexford County in Michigan.

If anyone has any information on this family the help would be greatly appreciated

I have
a Jessie Lulu Wardell listed as a child on an 1880 Census
I a Jesse Wardell (a grandfather) came to the U.S. in 1849. In the 1850 Census in Luzerne PA are 5 Wardells and I am hoping to locate other folks who have Wardells in Luzerne as I imagine a young family would move to be with other Wardells.

(D.Galer) I have traced "Ellen" Seems through to Carbondale PA which is near Luzerne.

Frances Witherall was the daughter of David Witherall and Martha Wolcott .. a descendant of Oliver Wolcott, signer of the Declaration of Independance.

If anyone has any further information on John G. Wardell I'd surely appreciate it. The Ostrander and Wolcott lineage I already have.

They both have passed away now. They had 4 children, Linda,Susan,Edward, and Danny. Whats really strange is that my Mother, Mary E. Bennett ( Alice Bennett's sister) married Edward Chasey's cousin David Jackson Chasey. So my mother and her sister married cousins. The blood line between the Chaseys and Bennetts is very close. I don't know if this is the same family tree or not, but when I first saw all the names I became very excited, I would love to find out more information about the Chasey's if anyone knows. Thanks Dana Gann. e-mail dj.gann@hotmail.com My grandmother Myrtle Bennett) Chasey is also buried at fairview cemetery, and so is my grandpa David.

Judy:
I don't know how extensive your research has been on the Caygill family, but I need to ask. Might you have a James Caygill b.abt.1825 who married Ellen Davidson. Ellen was from Durham. The birth place of James is unknown to me, however I suspect it is Durham also. They are my g g grandparents and turned up in the US (Wash.,DC) in about 1850. Any help would be welcome and I would be happy to share info with you.

Contact me at: K80Don@aol.com

Don Kagle

My great grandfather was Joel Lindley Wardell. My grand father, Russell Lindley Wardell was born in Owen Sound, Ont, CA on May 27, 1885. He had a younger brother named Bert who was a RNWMP. This sounds very close to the names in your post.

FYI -The birth records in Owen Sound were destroyed in a fire many years ago.

Thelma Wardell married to James Earl Vincent were my grandparents. They had 8 children of which my mother was the younges. My aunts and Uncles are located all over the united states. I don't know much about my Granmothers family because my mother moved away when I was little. Thelma and Jim are both buried in Rosewell NM. I remember going to my Great Aunt Vera's house when I was very little. I am 34 now so this was quite some time ago. I also know that my sister is named for my mothers grandmother or her great grandmother in some way on the Wardell side. My sisters name is Angela Christine. I am not sure which name relates to the family.
I have vague memories of my mother talking about her Grandma Wardell but I was very small and do not remember what she would have said.

Re: Kiturah Wardell - Eliakim Wardell

Hello,

I believe that I am a descendant of Eliakim Wardell. I was born and raised in Monmouth County. My father was Harold Wardell and my grandfather was Evertt Wardell of Monmouth Beach. My Grandfather's home in Monmouth Beach is still in our family. I have some more information on Eliakim. Eliakim's father was Thomas Wardell and the family left England in 1640 headed for Boston. They were driven out of Boston and
went to New Hampshire. There, Eliakim married Lydia ( a Quaker) Here again they met with religious persecution and moved to Rhode Island. They came to Shrewsbury in 1670 because large tracts of land were offered tax free for seven years. Eliakim was prominent in the Society of Friends and he was appointed the first High Sheriff of Monmouth County. His daughter Joanna married John Eaton and they settled Eatontown.

I think Eliakim's great grandson was Henry Wardell who in 1842 built the first hotel on the barrier beach near the Shrewsbury Inlet. It was known as the Ocean House.

I don't have any information on Thomas Wardell's other children. So I am not sure if I am from the Eliakim line or not.

Any information woud be helpful. Thank you.

Virginia Wardell Van Winkle
