Ware are my Ware's?

I am searching for the ancestry of my great-grandmother Luvenia Early (b.05/10/1881 d. 06/16/1962) and great-grandfather Horace Greely Ware (Scotch-Irish descent) (b.09/08/1873 in Alabama d. 01/29/1945). Luvenia married Horace after her sister (Alice P.) passed. Alice was married to Horace first and died in childbirth with their sixth son Alfred. Luvenia moved in with Horace to help take care of the children and later married.

Luvenia's siblings also include a Boyce and a Gus Early.

Children of Alice P. Early & Horace Greely Ware were: Able Lexter (b. 03/13/1898 d. 04/19/1973); Addie L. (b. 11/10/1900 d. 09/16/1983); Ada B. (b.08/31/1899 d. unknown; Boyce E. (b. 06/04/1902 d. 08/19/1963); Ralph (b. 09/08/1903 d. 06/1987) and Alfred (b. 05/05/1905 d. within weeks of birth)

Children of Luvenia & Horace Greely Ware were: Horace Greely Jr. “Jack” (b. 12/22/1910 d. 03/25/1933); Cicero (b. 10/08/1913 d. 09/07/1986); James Browning (b. 11/22/1916 d. 1979); Fred William b.private (my grandfather still living) and Luther Pinkney (b. 06/23/1921 d. 11/12/2001).

They were living in or near Kings Mountain, North Carolina.

My grandfather is the last living child of Luvenia and Horace Greely Ware.

My grandmother Lillian Rebecca Fisher (b.04/10/1922 d. 11/02/2001) was living next door to my grandfather Fred William Ware (which is how they met). Her parents are John Alexander Fisher (b.05/05/1898 d. 02/1973) and Annie Rose Segal (b. 05/20/1903 d.02/1981). Her siblings include: John David Fisher (b. 09/11/1928 d. 02/10/2002) and Helen (private). Helen is the last living child of Annie Rose Segal and John David Fisher. Helen Fisher married James Browning Ware. Two sisters married two brothers.

I have hit a brick wall with Horace. I can’t seem to go back any further. I am desperate to find a connection somewhere. Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

Ware, John Richard - of Virginia

Here's a mystery I'm seriously needing help with. I'm looking for the (of birth certificate) of James Andrew Ware. On his birth certificate, his father is listed as Sylvester Pillsbury, however, every time James Andrew Ware listed his parents, he listed John Richard Ware as his father. James was born in 1888, so assumably we could be looking at a birth date for Sylvester Pillsbury between 1835 and 1870. The place of residence in 1888 was King/Queen County, Virginia. I also have word of mouth information from an aunt that there are relatives with the last name Pillsbury. If ANYONE has ANY of these same ancestors or information about them, PLEASE contact me. Or if you just like a good challenge - please email me at ksewald04@windstream.net. Thanks so much!

Relatives of Ware 1865 to 1900?

Hi,

The following 8 names were in one of my mother’s earlier address books but not in her later address books. They are a mystery to me because I know all my mother’s family (Robson). I suspect that these could be listings of family on my father’s side (Rigby). I am making this assumption because Ware is an English name and not a Scottish one.

With that said, I am not sure why my mother entered these names as they do not appear to be related to me by blood and they do not appear anywhere else other than in the address book. My English grandmother’s name was Florence Fox, daughter of Benjamin Fox (Born Sheffield) and Sarah Ann Stocks (Born County of Derby). Sarah’s mother was Ann Storer.

Florence had 2 sisters (Sarah Ann Fox born abt 1882) and (Mary Fox born abt 1884) that could have married into the Ware name. This may be an answer to the mystery but I doubt it as James Gatrell Ware is younger that Sarah and Mary?

Mrs James Ware born 1865
Lillie Ware born 1884
Grace May Ware born 1887
James Gatrell Ware born 1890
Emily Doris Ware born 1893
Alice Harriet Ware born 1896
Helen Violet Ware born 1898
Francis Unice Ware born 1900

Can anyone shed a light on this?

Thanks

Glen
Ebert Ware (1889-1973) in Texas and his brothers Leroy (born 1886) and Nicholas (b. circa 1892/1893)

Ebert Ware (1889-1973) in Texas and his brothers Leroy (born 1886) and Nicholas (b. circa 1892/1893)

Brothers Elbert and Nicholos Ware of Texas, sons of James E. Ware and first wife Vennie Hunt..... they were my grandfather's cousins and lived at one time in Harris County, Texas..... Elbert Ware (born 1889) lived in Harris County, Texas into the early 1970s I think.

Here are Vennie Hunt and James E. Ware's known children:
(1) Ben F. Ware (named after his maternal grandfather Ben Hunt), born March 5, 1885 in Hayes County, Texas, and died February 3, 1897 as a result of an orphanage fire).
(2) LeRoy Ware, born November 6, 1886 in Hayes County, Texas ("LeRoy ran away several times and was returned to the orphanage. When he left the last time in 1902, he was not brought back").
(3) Elbert Ware was born on October 9, 1889 in Fayette County, Texas. There is no record of when he left the Home (However, we know he survived as he is on the SSDI.... he died in July 1973).
(4) Nicholos born circa 1892/1893

I have lots of family history..... Is anyone descended from brothers Leroy, Ebert or Nicholos?
Please e-mail me at Lenrein@aol.com.

I know that the the first three boys were definately sons of both Levenia (Hunt) and James E. Ware. Then James apparently left Vennie in 1893 and I know she died in 1895 and at least the three older sons were placed in an orphanage..... (the youngest being taken into his father James E. Ware's household by 1910 as shown on the 1910 census).
Note: James's 2nd wife "Emma" is listed with only has one child (George) on the 1910 census.... so Nicholas listed here is probably a son with James's 1st wife Vennie (Hunt) Ware's..... and Nicholas is later shown living with full-brother Elbert in 1920.

Sincerely, Len
Lenrein2@yahoo.com

P.S. Also Vennie's parents were Ben and Fannie (Nash) Hunt
I'm looking for information Lisle Ware, born in Michigan (Hillsdale County) 1903. Father: William Ware Mother: Rachel Bell Moved to Arkansas with parents as a child (including brother Ivan Ware). 1926 is indicated in Covington, Kentucky as a building contractor in his mother's obituary but cannot locate anything after that for sure. I believe he married and had a daughter based on information received from other family members. I would like to fill in information on this line. Any help would be appreciated.

Who was the General Ware 1825 in Georgia?

Request identification of General Ware (Weir/Wear) at the end of paragraph below. For context, see: http://freepages.history.rootsweb.com/~cescott/parks/chief.h... Thanks, Jacquelyn Marshall

After his [Chief William H. McIntosh, Jr.] death [April 25, 1825 GA], his wife Peggy complained in the Cherokee Advocate that, "I do not blame the Creeks, the Creeks treat me well, the Cherokees treat me well--it was by Government my husband lost his life--Government say to my husband 'Go Arkansas, go to Arkansas, and you will be better off.' My husband wished to please the Government--my house is burned, myself and my children run--my children naked--no bread--one blanket, is all--like some stray dog, I suffer; with one blanket I cover my three children and myself--the Government say 'Go!' The Indians kill him; between two fires my husband dies; I wander--Government does not feed me--Creek does not feed me--no home, no bread, nothing! nothing! Till Gen. Ware gives me a home, I suffer like some stray Indian dog."

Ware Ancestry

I do not know alot about my father's family. I do know that their name was Ware, and they came from Yorkshire. Their was, as I am told, a Sir James Ware. I was also told that the Ware family came to America (Virginia) somewhere around the 1500's. If there is anyone out there that can give me any help it would be greatly appreciated.

Marriage of William A. Lee to Miss Lizzie A. Ware

Appears in "The Wapanucka Press" 28 August 1902, Wapanucka, Johnston County, Indian Territory, now Oklahoma

MARRIED ON THE TRAIN

A Young Couple from Minco Ply Marriage Vows on Passenger Coach

El Reno: Judge I. Phelps was called upon to join in marriage two of the most popular young people of Minco. William A. Lee and Miss Lizzie A. Ware were the happy couple. The wedding was solemnized on the 9:30 train on the Rock Island going south. The judge did not have time to tie the knot before the train started, so the young couple took him along, and in the presence of a coach full of people pronounced them husband and wife.
Wares from Omaha Nebraska area

I have a lovely pastel of Hanscom Park (?) in Omaha, done I think between 1890 and 1910, and signed "Ware." It was a wedding gift to my grandparents, c. 1911. I'm trying to find information on the artist. Does anyone on the thread have a guess about any artistically-talented members of the Ware family in the Omaha area at that time? Many thanks!

One ball entered the right side, struck a rib and glanced around, coming out in the back; the other hit squarely in the upper part of the stomach and went entirely through the body. Parties from there say WARE cannot live. No arrests had at that time been made. The negro says there had been bad feeling between him and Mr. SIZEMORE for some time. Recently two of the SIZEMORE brothers, he claims, met him on the dam at King’s Mill and thrashed him. Yesterday he says he challenged Mr. Henry SIZEMORE, when alone, to fight it out fist and skull, and upon attacking him was shot by Mr. SIZEMORE. Parties here have two 38-calibre balls that passed through the negro. One of the balls is badly mashed.”

[Columbus (GA) Enquirer-Sun newspaper, Friday, 28 APR 1899, p. 7. An identical article also appeared in the Weekly Enquirer-Sun on 06 MAY 1899, p. 6.]

“SHOT THE NEGRO.

“Mr. SIZEMORE Would Not Fight ‘Fist and Skull.’

“GENEVA, Ga., April 28—Mr. Henry SIZEMORE fatally shot John WARE, a negro, at King’s mill, in Chattahoochee county, about nine miles from here, yesterday, both balls passing through the body. They had had a difficulty, and the negro, it seems, was worsted. Yesterday he approached Mr. SIZEMORE and proposed that they fight it out fist and skull, and upon being attacked, Mr. SIZEMORE shot him. No arrest has been made.”

[Macon (GA) Telegraph newspaper, Saturday, 29 APR 1899, p. 5.]

I believe the above man to be Julius Henry SIZEMORE (ca. 1849 GA – aft. 1880), son of Wiley & Mary (ASKEW) SIZEMORE, who m1. 20 SEP 1874 in Chattahoochee Co, GA, to Frances “Fannie” HALE (ca. 1852 GA – aft. 1880), and is said to have m2. Cynthia HESTER. I believe he appears in records as Henry and is the only man known by this name in the area during this period. In 1880, Henry and Fannie were farming in Ft. Perry District in Marion Co, GA. According to my record, their son William J. SIZEMORE (b. ca. 1875 Marion Co, GA) died in Macon, Bibb Co, GA, so perhaps one of the following is one of Henry’s wives:

“SIZEMORE.

“Mrs. J. H. SIZEMORE died at her home, on Hanson Avenue, in South Macon, at 6:20 o’clock last evening. She was 50 years of age and had been in bad health for several months. She leaves one son, Mr. G. W. ARRINGTON, of Macon, and a daughter, Mrs. Walter FLOWERS, of Palatka, Fla. She was a consistent member of the Primitive Baptist church. The funeral arrangements will be announced later.”

[Macon (GA) Telegraph newspaper, Monday, 09 DEC 1907, p. 3.]

“Mrs. J. H. SIZEMORE.

“Obsequies over the remains of Mrs. J. H. SIZEMORE took place yesterday afternoon at Mount Waverly Baptist Church and the interment followed at Cedar Ridge Cemetery. Many relatives and friends of the deceased accompanied the remains to their last resting place.”

[Macon (GA) Telegraph newspaper, Tuesday, 10 DEC 1907, p. 3.]

“SIZEMORE.

“While preparing the noon meal yesterday [Mrs.] J. H. SIZEMORE, residing on Clinton street, East Macon, was seized with an affection of the heart, dying a few minutes afterward. Medical assistance was summoned, but the lady had passed away before the physician reached her. She is survived by her husband, J. H. SIZEMORE. The body will be carried to Juniper [Marion County, near the line with Talbot County], her former home, this afternoon at 1 o’clock for funeral and interment.”

[Macon (GA) Telegraph newspaper, Tuesday, 11 APR 1911, p. 11.]

Henry SIZEMORE (s/o Wiley) is a cousin of mine. I am interested in learning more about John WARE. King's Mill was operated for many years by John W. KING (1848-1904) of Box Springs. Perhaps WARE was employed there? - jml
My name is Cynthia Jarman Akins. I am looking for any information on my grandmother. Her married name was Mildred Nellie Ware. She claimed that her maiden name was Hall but we never knew for sure. She told us that she was from Cuyahoga County Ohio and was born in 1919. She also would speak at times of having a twin. After she married my grandfather they lived in Mooresville, North Carolina. She passed away in 1982 and even after all these years it still hurts not knowing. I know that this is very little information to go on but if anyone knows anything, or if this sounds familiar, please e-mail me. You would put some needed closure to this for me and my family.

Thanking you in advance,

Cynthia Jarman Akins
kakins@carolina.rr.com
Albert Ware, 1858, Monroe County Mississippi

I am looking for the family of my grandmother Aldora (Ware) Mcguire.

Her father was named Albert Ware. My Uncle Earl McGuire told me he was a 7 ft tall Cherokee Indian who hunted rabbits with rocks. According to the census record he was born around 1858 in Mississippi and was married to Sussie or Gussie. Their children were Aldora (my grandmother) b 17 Nov 1912, d 21 Mar 1978, Albert b ca 1912, Leona b ca 1916, Chatty (or Charity) b ca 1916, James b ca 1912, Nathaniel b ca 1909, Jimmie b ca 1904, Calvern b ca 1901 and Iola. Apparently Albert died after the 1920 census because he does not appear in the 1930 census and Gussie is listed as a widow.

In my grandmother's obituary from the Kansas City Times Star from March 30, 1978 Leona is listed as Leona White and living in St. Louis. Chatty (or Charity) is listed as living in Chicago.
