Notes for John Browne:
Captain John BROWNE and his brother, Peregrine, both mariners, are said to have operated the best equipped merchant transports sailing between London, England and Annapolis, Anne Arundel County. It is thought that the brothers made their home with Captain Richard WARFIELD, Sr. when in Maryland, and that they were in Matyland by 1659. In 1673 Captain BROWNE owned "Hope" and "Increase", both located close to Captain WARFIELD's holdings near Round Bay, Anne Arundel Cpunty. Land Records
pertinent to "Hope" and "Increase" were among those restored by Captain WARFIELD after the first burning of the State House. Since no intervening transfers are recorded on these two properties, it must be assumed that they came into Captain Richard WARFIELD's possession as a result of his marriage to Elinor BROWNE, Captain BROWNE's only child.
