Would like to know anything about Sarah Warford, born around 1800/1804 in North Carolina, married Reuben Holmes around 1824 in North Carolina. They had two daughters
Caroline and Emmiline. What happened to Sarah?? In 1832
Reuben was in Calloway Co. Ky with the two girls, but Sarah was not with them.

He then married Frances "Franky" Gore from Georgia in Calloway Co., in February 1832

Responding to a post which is now eight years old may be futile. but I just happened to see it on a Ancestry.com message board. Having held Warford family reunions for over 100 years is very impressive, and I would love to join you in the future, if possible. My great-grandmother, Kazirah, was the daughter of Claiborne Warford & Hulda Harris, born near Emminence Kentucky in 1841. Claiborne's father Benjamin was born in the town founded by the family in Pennsylvania.

Some of the people you mention appear in the KY birth and death records in ancestry.com: Bennie Warford’s death, Rathel Warford’s birth, and your mother’s four children. Your grandfather Bennie had another son, whose death record helped place the family: Lester S Warford was born 24 Feb 1939 and died 12 Jul 1939 in Shelby Cy. His father was born in Anderson Cy, and his mother was born in Shelby Cy.

A little census work produced:

The 1880 census is what explains the family: they are Woffords and not Warfords. The problem is that the name has been spelled every way through the years. Your great grandfather was Nathaniel Green Wofford (1860 - 12 Sep 1948, Anderson Cy). His father was Benjamin, his grandfather was Benjamin, and his great grandfather was Benjamin. This first Benjamin (1754, SC - 15 Sep 1846, Anderson Cy) is well-known to Wofford researchers due to his pension application for his service in the Revolutionary War. So, you are directly related to a Revolutionary War soldier.

I see that you do not live far from Frankfort. If you are interested in following up on your Wofford line, I recommend you contact the KY Historical Society and the KY Dept for Library and Archives. Both organizations have research rooms and personnel who will help you start your research.

I may have some information on Jane Walford . I do know that there was aJohn Warford in Nelson Co., Ky in early 1800's and he owned a lot of land in Kentucky.

Also there was a Benjamin Warford who came from North Carolina and fought in Rev.War and after the war came to Anderson Co., Ky ( I believe). Have information on his line.

The Warford book is some 1500 pages, over 16000 individual names, 17 generations with oldest birthdate of 1580. The book is entitled "The Trail of John Warford I in America". It starts with John Warford I who comes to the Colonies about 1650. This family followed the Eastern Seaboard from New Jersey to North Carolina families apparently parted northward. One group went to Arkansas and southern Missouri, the other group migrated through Kentucky then central Missouri. Various families were recorded in the book migrated westward through Nebraska, Colorado, etc. It is a great book and you can contact me in the above email .

My particular line of Warford/Worford originating from Joseph and Mary remained in what was then Rowan Co., NC, to become Davidson Co. in Dec 1822. Other branches of the family moved to other states & the family is quite large.

I believe the children you found are Lot and Syble's grandchildren. They have a daughter living with them also. Lot is our brick wall. I have not been able to find his Parents. Lot is believed to have been born in 1797 in Loudoun Co., Va. I am also trying to find our when and where Lot and Sybel died. Lot and family were last noted on the 1870 Daviess Co., Mo. In 1880 Syble was living with a son in Des Moines, Iowa. I have not been able to find a cemetery record for Lot or Syble in Des Moines. There is a stone in one cemetery with a date put unable to read the first name last name Warford. d. 1883. I sent for death records for a suggested date, but no record available, (too early).
I have checked some of the wills for Warfords who died in Va. with no mention of a Lot. His first name may not have been Lot. ?? My Grandfather (grandson to Lot) was John Lot Warford. I want to get some Church records. I need address for the churches in Iowa in Clark and Polk Co., so I can write them and see if they have heard of a Lot or Syble Warford. Well My grandparents names where Benny and Mary Elizabeth (Cramer, Cranmer, Cramner) Warford. My mothers name is Anna Marie Warford. She is married to Jodie Underwood. I am looking into the family because we all either do not know each other or we have never meet. MY mother has brothers and sister I will list them as I know them or know of them.

The Department of Defense announced today the death of two soldiers who were supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom. They died Sept. 5 in Balad, Iraq, of wounds suffered from an improvised explosive device.

John WARFORD (1778-1854) b. Hunterdon Co., NJ, resided Schenctady Co. 1810, Charleston, Montgomery Co. NY 1820 through 1850, sold land to his son Jewel WARFORD in 1854, John married Lydia (JONES) 1804 in Johnstown, NY. Their daughter Welthy (WARFORD) married Isaac VANDERVEER (1798-1869) and moved to Lysander, Onondaga Co., NY about 1830. Isaac was son of William VANDERVEER (1771-1861) of Monmouth Co., NJ., Montgomery Co. and Onondaga Co., NY.
Other names connected to these families are Anna (JEWELL) (WOOLVERTON) WARFORD, mother of John who md1 Charles WOOLVERTON and m2nd Moses WARFORD Sr. of Hunterdon Co., NJ. - John CLAYTON Junr. of Charleston, Montgomery Co., NY., 1850 might have been related, perhaps to a daughter of John WARFORD?
