I am trying to find a trace of Thomas Warner, he was married twice.
Thomas Warner, Born approx 1860 Died approx 1952 married twice, had eleven children 9 with first wife 2 with second, Girls Hannah, Mag, lily Floss Nell …………., ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,. Boy Thomas all with first wife name unknown. Second issue Nancy and Joesph my grandfather. Again name of wife unknown possibly Harriet, she died when my father Roy Kenneth was a baby say 1928.
Hannah married Fred Charles and they had a girl and a boy who worked for the post office technical division in Birmingham, he was sent on a course to London and he and his wife were killed by a doodle bug bomb. Mag married an army bandsman and they had a girl Nora, and a boy who was on the RAF had a motor cycle accident and lost a leg he was invalided out and went to work at Cambridge University as a lab Technician on radar.
Thomas Warner Snr; was a crown green bowler and won the all Birmingham bowling contest when he was in his 80’s he was a member of the “sons of rest” who met in a hall built in Somerville road park. He lived at 5 Mansel Road Birmingham 10 Thomas Jnr was a cricketer in a Sunday liege. He died of pneumonia after wearing a wet sweater for a match, he was married to Doris and had three girls, Joan Dolce and Doris Jnr. Doris made dresses for the professional ballroom dancers, she also lived in Mansel Road but I don’t know the number. She died when she fell down stairs and broke her neck. Dolce Married that’s all I know of her. Joan married a GI and moved to the USA she divorced and remarried she died in the USA of cancer. Nell married and had two babies who both died within a year. Floss and Lily never married. Floss was a canteen supervisor at John Lewis In the city, Lily was a tailor. Both Lily and Floss died after Joseph.
Nancy married Graham Hicks and they had a son Paul he was a salesman for paint, then Jewleray
Joesph married Lily May Rice in 1926 and then had Roy Kenneth my father in May 1927.
Graham Hicks was a Post office worker in Birmingham tech branch.
Thomas Edward rice was born about 1870 in Birmingham he had a brother, name unknown, Tom was a wire worker and worked for Joseph Nichols & Son Ltd in Birmingham. He was a type of subcontractor he supplied both the labor and tools gave a price for the job paid all the men and the company provided the orders and the material. When he was young they wanted him to be a teacher but he preferred to work at his trade. He invented the coil spring mattress but his brother went to France and patented it so Tom got no credit for his invention. Tom married Hannah Eliza Bliss in about 1888 they had a son William and your grandmother Lily May in 1900 they all lived at 3 Swanage road Small Heath Birmingham 10 until the died. His farther was a traveling salesman who traveled through the West Country with a horse and cart selling and buying as he went he would be away for months at a time. I think it was his father not Hannah’s. Hannah had a sister Emma who was married to a builder they lived in Yardley and had a daughter Doris single and died of Brest cancer, she also had brothers who lived in Sheffield and worked in the steel or cutlery trade, he used to write to us all in Rhyme. Roy Kenneth's uncle Bill married Hetty and they had a daughter Barbara who lives in ………………….. She married Ross. A second marriage, Bill also married after Hetty died to his housekeeper………………. They lived in Paighton after they moved from Birmingham Melrose road.
