Eleazer WARNER Capt. 27th US Infantry War of 1812
Does anyone have information on this Warner?
I found his name on a list of members of the U.S. Army prior to the peace of 1815 as being the captain of the company that the Seba Dean I am researching was in. The roster says Seba was born in Canaan, CT but if he is the Seba Dean I have been searching for, he might have been in VT or NY when he enlisted.
All computer searches for Eleazar Warner have come up empty so far. There is not much information on the 27th U.S. Infantry in the War of 1812 either. Parts of this regiment appear to have been in the Battles of Ft. Erie and Detroit and fought against Tecumseh. However there seems to have been many Kentuckians in this battle. The fact that it was a U.S. Infantry unit instead of a militia might mean there were soldiers from many areas of the country.
The handwriting was a little hard to read in the roster, so the first name could have been Elijah, but most likely Eleazar or Elezar. I am pretty sure the last name was Warner.
Hope someone on this list is familiar with this Capt. Warner. Thanks for any help!
