My Wasden line is thru William J. Wasden who was born ca 1770 in Surry County, NC. His father was probably Thomas but this has not been confirmed. A Thomas was in Surrey/Sussex Counties VA earlier. So was Jonathan Wasdon who migrated to Wayne County, NC.
Here are my questions to the Wasdin Group.
The surname (Wasden/Wasdin/Wasdon) is spelled several ways, one of which was Warden in the Old Albermarle Parish Record. There was a James Warden who was an Episcopal Minister from Scotland who served the Lawne's Creek Church about the time these Wasden/Wasdin/Wasdon families were there. From the references it is clear that the same person's name was spelled differently. Quite possibly that James Warden, the Minister, could be the progenitor of those individuals. No individuals with these spelling existed before his presence in that area. I would welcome information any of the members of this group might have on this matter and your comments. In fact, I would welcome any information on the Wasdin/Wasden/Wasdon families in the Sussex/Surry/Brunswick County area of Virginia during the 1700's.
