I am looking for the parents of William Worsham b 1770 VA d 1830 Putnam Co GA. I need his wife's name too. Their son was also William 1790 GA - 1853 AL. He married Messouria Elleston b 1795. Their son was - again- William M Washam 1820 GA - 1897 AL. It would be wonderful to find the lineage back to the Worsham immigrant from England. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

'Bill'
Mr. Washam, age 92, of Charlotte, beloved wife of Frances Christenbury Washam, passed away August 27, 2007. Born in Cornelius, NC on January 8, 1915, he was the son of the late Clyde and Florence Mayhew Washam.
Mr. Washam was a World War II veteran serving his time with the US Army. He was a very active member of Sugaw Creek Presbyterian Church, serving as Elder Emeritus. He served with past Board of Directors at Nevin Center for 26 years, and retired as a safety supervisor with Thurston Motor Lines after 26 years of service. Bill was also employed by McEwen Funeral Service for nearly 20 years.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Sheila Diane Washam, and his sister, Nadine Cox.
To the entire staff of The Court at South Park and Dr. Carol Rupe, we can never thank you enough for all your loving care to not only our husband and father, but to all of us throughout these past months. Never underestimate your power to impact someone's life through your caring.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 29, 2007, at 11 AM in Sugaw Creek Presbyterian Church, 101 West Sugar Creek Rd., Charlotte, with Pastor Keith Copeland to Officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at church one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Sugaw Creek Presbyterian Church Youth Fund, 101 West Sugar Creek Rd., Charlotte, NC 28213.
McEwen-Derita Chapel is serving the family of Mr. Washam.

Sid F. Washam Jr.
Mr. Washam, 86, a loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away on November 4, 2007. Born in Charlotte, NC on February 19, 1921, he was the youngest of seven children born to the late Sidney Washam and Mattie Torrence Washam. Sid was a graduate of Sharon High School and was married to Betty Garris Washam for 65 wonderful years.
He served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during World War II and was present at the signing of the treaty aboard the USS Missouri between the United States and Japan.
Sid was one of the founding fathers of Woodlawn Volunteer Fire Department which was the second volunteer unit organized in Mecklenburg County. He was employed by the Mecklenburg County School System, A&P Tea Company, and retired as a Deputy Sheriff for Mecklenburg County.
Sid was a 32nd Degree Mason and Shriner. He was a member of the St. James Male Chorus and Ebenezer ARP Church for 65 years where he served as a Deacon.
Sid's humor and love for others will live in the memories of his family and friends forever.
The family wishes to thank his caregivers, Mary Putt, Dale Thompson and Bunny Watford for their dedicated and compassionate care of Sid.
In addition to his wife, Betty, Mr. Washam is survived by his son, Frank Washam and his wife, Sue of Gastonia, NC; his daughter, Karen Warren and her husband, Bobby of Newton, NC; four grandchildren, Stephanie Bryant and her husband, Jim, Leslie Cuthbert and her husband, David, James O. Warren III and his wife, Kristi, and Heather Warren; and three great-grandchildren, James Bryant, Luke Cuthbert and Charlotte Cuthbert.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday afternoon, November 7, 2007 in the Hankins & Whittington Chapel, 1111 East Blvd. Interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park.

Mrs. Washam, age 96, of Huntersville, died Thursday, May 3, 2007 at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center. Born April 15, 1911 in Rowan County, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Everette Goodnight and Carrie Teeter Goodnight.
Mrs. Washam grew up in the Centenary Mt. Ulla Community, was a graduate of Appalachian Teachers College and was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Saturday, May 5, at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the services in the Ladies Parlor of the church.
Survivors are her daughters, Juanita W. Poplin and husband, Joe, of Albemarle, Kathy W. Miller and husband, Dennis, of High Point, and Sarah W. Lowe and husband, Richard, of Huntersville; sister, Faye G. Scoggins of Mt. Ulla; and grandchildren, Shane Poplin of Albemarle, Ben Miller and wife, Leigh Ann, of Huntersville, Carrie Miller of Raleigh, and Brandon and Bryan Lowe of Huntersville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death on August 14, 1986 by her husband, Ben A. Washam, whom she married June 25, 1936; brothers, Tom E. Goodnight and John N. Goodnight; and sisters, Nan G. Stutts and Etheleen G. Huffman.
Memorials may be made to Mt. Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 19600 Zion Street, Cornelius, NC 28031.

Mr. Washam, age 77, of Fort Mill SC, formerly of Cornelius, died Thursday, May 31, 2007 at CMC Pineville. Born September 16, 1929 in Mecklenburg County, he was a son of the late John Vance Washam and Velna Potts Washam.
He was a graduate of Cornelius High School Class of 1947, a US Army veteran of the Korean War, was owner of Billy P. Washam Construction for a number of years and construction superintendent for Barger Construction, White Construction and Gates Construction. He was a member of Banks Presbyterian Church in Waxhaw, loved to fish and carve, and enjoyed the beach.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Sunday, June 3, in the Chapel of Raymer Funeral Home with his son, Mark Washam officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethel Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:30 to 8:30 at the Funeral Home.
Survivors are his wife, Rita Alexander Washam; sons, Robert V. Washam and wife, Kris, Terry D. Washam and wife, Mary, of Cornelius, Rev. Billy Mark Washam and wife, Chris, of Corinth, TX, Steve Brown and wife, Peggy, of Fort Mill SC, and Don Brown of Charlotte; daughter, Carol W. Dunn and husband, Danny, of Ballard, WV; brothers, John Vance Washam and Murvyn Washam of Cornelius; sisters, Avone W. Goodson, Jackie W. Burris, and Brenda W. Rhodes of Cornelius; fourteen grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Henry Lee Washam, 75, of Davidson will be held at 3pm tomorrow at Cavin Funeral Chapel in Huntersville.
The Rev. G.E. Plott will officiate assisted by the the Rev Holyle C Lowder. Burial will be in Mimosa Cemetery in Davidson.
Mr. Washam, a retired painting contractor, died last night at home.
A Mecklenburg County native, he was born Feb 15, 1888. He was the son of the late William and Mollie Johnston Washam.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Maggie White Washam, two Sons, Harry Lee Washam of Davidson and Craig D. Washam of Pasadena TX; five daughters, Mrs. Fred Hunter of Charlotte, Mrs. Carl Goodrum of Cornelius, Mrs. Ralph Sigman of Mooresville, Mrs. Merle W. Adams and Mrs. Page Grose of Davidson, and two sisters, Mrs. T.H. Henderson and Mrs. M.C. Reid of Davidson.

My grandfather I believe was Edward Washam, his daughters by two wives were Martha and Dorothy Elizabeth. His second wife, my grandmother was Alameda Young who died at the age of 31. My great grandfather I believe was Fernandies (Ferdinand) Washam and he was married to a Donner...I think. They had children, whose names were Maude, Pearl, and perhaps harry but I get fuzzy here. Edward and Ferdinand had a brass foundry as a side job, and the elder was a design engineer on the B& O Railroad, the younger was a train engineer. This is the story as I know it. I would love to know more.

I am searching for a veteran of WWII, (Unknown) Washam, who served in the 561st Field Artillery Battalion. He would have been born between 1906 and 1925. I've checked the World War II Memorial Registry, and gathered all the data I can from the Social Security Death Index and the 1930 Census. Unfortunately, both the SSDI and 1930 Census do not give me anything on military service for WWII.

I am posting messages to hopefully get some info directly from veterans or their family. I will be pursuing getting data from the Army Records Center in St. Louis. Maybe the combination of sources will work for me.

The 561st FA Bn has an informal association, and an annual reunion; thus this work to find WWII veterans of the unit.

Seraching for any information about: William Shields Washam (b. 7/28/1859) and his wife Mary M. Johnston Washam (b. 1/1861). They had at least 8 children that I know of, I only know 3 names, Addie Loline Washam Reid, (my grandmother), Margaret Washam Henderson and Henry Leroy (Lee) Washam. I think they were all born in and around Cabarras, Mecklenburg and Davidson....There seems to be a connection between the Washams and a Sarah Whitlow (b. 1/9/1855) she married William A. Reid (b. 12/24/1855) I have two post cards dated 1913 addressed to Miss Sarah Whitlow at Mt. Mourne, NC. That I found in my father's (James Monroe Reid) papers????? has been updated. Some new pictures have been added, plus a search engine. William George Worsham, who were probably brothers were in Henrico Co., VA in 1652. It is believed all Worsham Washam families descend from these two men.

My line comes through Finnis James Washam b. Jan. 1878 Missouri. He is my ggrandfather. He married Lucy (Lucy Bell ?) around 1904.
His father is John W. Washam, b. may 1856/1857 in Missouri. They were basically living in Chariton County, Missouri. Does anyone have any ties to this line? Possibly Lucy (Lucy Bell) is a Witherspoon. I am still trying to find more about that side.
