Hi Jared,
I am interested in your message as I have been researching my Washburn line for over 25 years. I believe that my gggrandfather Jacob's first son was a James who I have never been able to find. They did live in Indiana for a while and then, later, I find similiar names in SD where my grandparents lived. If they didn't live on the same farm, they lived very near. Their name was Lobdell.
I would like to correspond with you more about this. We just might have some kind of a link. Doris Kukuk

James Washburn m. Jeanette (Nettie) Thompson 1893

I'm looking for the date of death of James Washburn of Indiana, b. 1868[?], apparently living in 1880 with his great-grandparents, in 1900 living with his wife (b Oct 1872) and son Robert (b. Sept 1896). By 1905 Jeanette Thompson Washburn had m. Earl Palmer Hopkins and in the 1910 Census Robert is listed as Robert [Washburn] Hopkins. Can anyone supply me with information on this James Washburn, including his date of death? -- Jared Lobdell

Hunting for info on my husband's WASHBURN ancestors. Been searching for years, but can't get any further back than Smith WASHBURN, my hubbie's great-grandfather below. His confirmed haplogroup is I1.

Thanks
Maybe I can help. Pearl Katherine Washburn Tolle was my maternal grandmother. She had sisters, Minnie and Myrtle and a brother Richard Proctor Washburn. I believe my great grandparents were Joseph Washburn and Sarah (who later married a Moore. Sarah and her second husband Greenlee Moore are buried in Maysville, Ky. I believe Joseph was killed when my grandmother Pearl was three. I have photos of Pearl, Proctor, Minnie and Myrtle. Are you a cousin?

Hello, Thanks for returning a message from me. I have to laugh at how long ago it has been since I inquired. Since then, I have found a lot of information on my Washburns. Now, I find that I am sure I don't have a link to your family. However, I still have some missing information on my family that I need to find documentation on in order to be a member of the Mayflower Society. They have rejected me just this summer.
My ancestors do not have a link to France and they did not live in AR. Mine lived in Otsego Co. NY and then IN. They could very well have lived in Ontario though for a time as they were turncoats for a while.
Thanks again. Good luck with your research.

Searching for the parents of Mary WASHBURN, she was born probably bet. 1774 - 1784 and married Isaac Kipp in 1797. The couple are listed in Mt. Pleasant/New Castle in 1800/1810 in Westchester Co., NY. By 1840 Isaac is in Michigan, where he died. Mary is not included in the count in 1840.

Someone suggested that her parents might be Joseph WASHBURN (1752? - 1831) and Freelove MATTHEWS (1757 - 1835). They are also of North Castle, Chappaqua, and Mt. Pleasant. If anyone has information about that couple I would also be interested.

Jim, did you ever get any information on Ethan or Etham Washburn. I think he may have been living with Abraham and Cynthia Washburn Mckay in Mercer County, Missouri in 1860. If he is a brother to Cynthia Washburn Mckay this will prove the family story that brother fought against brother during the civil war.

Glenna McKay Maddux

Found: Old Photos & Documents for Ella Stevens Chapman Washburn

We recently found a couple old boxes in my Great Uncle's barn. In the boxes are old photos (late 1800's to 1950s?), documents, books, etc. for the following persons:

Ella Stevens Chapman Washburn
b. Aug 31, 1889; Holden, Millard Co., Utah
d. March 21, 1955; St. George, Utah (or at least that is where the funeral home was located.

Father: Walter Joshua Stevens, b. Battle Creek, Utah
Mother: Elizabeth Kenny, b. Deseret, Utah

Most of the non-paper belongings were for Ella's first husband: Don Archibald Chapman.

The second box had a lot of papers and photos (including letters) belonging to Verl S. Chapman of Roseville, Utah. Verl was in the Co. D 90th Infantry during WWII, and was living at 247 3rd St., Ocean Park, CA in 1947. SS#39945572.

Along with his dogtags were tags belonging to Morris M. Page, SS#39908775.

There were also some photos of the Washburns connected to Ella's second husband, James F. Washburn.

We'd like to get these items back to their family if at all possible. I am posting this on the other family name boards also. I hope we can put these items back into the hands of Ella's family. Thanks.
