My grandmother, Ellen Washington, who was white, was born August 2,1864 at Lower Lake Co., California. She married James Thomas at an early age. Both her parents were deceased at the time. I do not know the names of her parents, only one sister, Sarah Elizabeth (Sally) Bayly. (I think this ws her sister, could have been sister-in-law. my mother only refered to her as Aunt Sally) Mother always told us that we were descendents (not direct of course) of Pres. George Washington. Have no proof though. Any information or connection to this line would be greatly appreciated.
