Vasko to Wasko to Washko- Swoyersville PA

Hi, How are all of you?? Well I'm writing today to try and get any info possible about my fathers side of the family. His whole side of the family won't talk about family past so getting information is left all to me!

I'm looking for any information on the Washko family from Swoyersville PA. I believe their name started as Vasko, then changed to Wasko, then again to Washko.

My G Grandfathers name was Wassil (Vasil, Wazil) Wasko born in 1891 and was from Slovakland. He came to the US around 1908 and was a coal miner.

My G Grandmothers name was Anna. I don't know her maiden name but the census states that she also was from Slovakland. She was born in 1895. From what the 1930 census states I believe that they were married after they came to the US. So I'm not sure if they met here or what?

Their children are/were:

Anna
Helen (my grandmother)
Micheal
Joseph
Stephen
Elizabeth

I'd appreciate any information you may have about these people. Also if you have any info about the family name, I'd love to hear that too!! About the origins and such! If anyone has info about coal mining in that area I'd really love to hear about that too!!

I'm on my mothers account right now.. so please send any info you may have too:

Nicole

NHE_genealogy@yahoo.com

Thanks so much for your time!! Have a great day!!
