Waterfield - Canada / Pakistan

We are a family of 5, who immigrated to Canada from Pakistan in 1975. My father, William Edgebert Waterfield (who passed away last July, born January 8th, 1931) comes from a family tradition of naming their first male born either W.E. or E.W. (alternating between the two). Thankfully, tradition was broken when I appeared on the scene.

This family of Waterfield's started when three brothers moved from Britian to India, to live and settle as land owners in the sub-continent. I am not sure exactly when this occurred, but likely towards the end of the 19th centuary. I believe one of these brothers was my great grandfather.

No known family members with the Waterfield name remain in either India or Pakistan. Most remaining relatives are scattered in all the usual places; UK, US, Canada and Austrailia. Of these relatives, only my immediate family are known by the Waterfield name.

My father had one sister who now lives in Dallas, Texas. Her married name is Fraser.

Does anyone have any information to confirm dates of when these three brothers left England for India? Actually, any contact with another Waterfield would be of interest. The Waterfield name appears to be one of the rarest around!

she had a brother called thomas 1888.

WATERFIELDS OF ENGLAND - NOTTS, LEICS- CANADA

I have been researching my family tree for a few years now but I can't seem to find any relations that I must have around Canada. John George went to Canada around 1910 with his Wife Elizabeth Letitia Waterfield and and a son Patrick and his wife Gertrude. Their children were Gertrude, (the nicknamed her Buddie) and Edward. I would hope there are relations of "Buddie and Edward as I can't find anything to say came back to England.

Could anyone help me at all?

Family christian names seem to be George, Benjamin, Thomas, Elizabeth, Charles,(we have a lot of Charles) John, Susannah, Selina, Mary, etc

Friday May 5, 1944; Deaths, Mrs. Sarah Virginia Petree Waterfield, 70, widow of William E. Waterfield died at a local hospital last night at 10 o'clock after a long illness. She was born in Princess Anne County and had been a resident of Norfolk for the past 60 years. She was the daughter of the late James Edward and Mary Brown Petree. Surviving her are three sons, W. L., E. L. and J. F. Waterfield, a half-brother William Petree, all of Norfolk; a half-sister Mrs. Annie Diggs of West Palm Beach, Fla.; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The body was taken to the James V. Derry Funeral Chapel.

I am looking for anyone who is researching the Waterfields of Knotts Island, NC. Specifically, I am looking for Joakim B. or J. B. Waterfield who died in 1902. I have a copy of his will, but do not have any information about his parents. I also am looking for information on the 3 children he adopted (I have a copy of this document also) they are, Fanny W. Ansell, James W. Ansell and Mattie Carol Waterfield b. 1894. They were all three adopted by J.B. Waterfield in Oct. of 1898 after their mother, Ann Bethany Cooper Ansell Waterfield died. I'm really new to this and am looking for some information. My g grandfather was Thomas Waterfield who emigrated to Canada from Edinborough Scotland around the turn of the 20th century. We have his military journal and in it he lists his father as Bailey Waterfield and his mother as Catherine Traicher. He also lists that he has brothers "living in America". No siblings names were listed in the journal.

Thomas was in the ? Highlanders regiment and served in the Boer War and spent some time in India before marrying a widow by the name of Mary Tait. He died in Toronto some time after 1911 (don't have an exact date yet). Is there anyone out there that can help me with more info? I know what cemetary he is buried in, but can't check it out until all this snow disappears.

A. McKager Waterfield (b.abt.1835 England) married E. E. (Ellen) Austin (b.abt.1861 IL) in Carrol County, Arkansas, in 1881. McKager (also known as "Mac") Waterfield had two children from a previous marriage. He and Ellen had six more, only two of whom I have identified, Grover Cleveland and Elgie Martin.
After McKager's death, Ellen Waterfield married Thomas Samuel Ming of Texas. Ellen and Thomas later moved to Oklahoma.
I have a fair amount of information about one line of this family (McKager, Grover) but very little about the parents of McKager and Ellen, or their other children and their decendants.
I would appreciate hearing from any Waterfield, Austin, or Ming "cousins" who would like to compare research.

I'm looking for information about Laura V. Waterfield, born probably around Richmond, Virginia, about 1860. She married John S. Fertsch, her first son Ross Leslie Fertsch was born 9 December 1882 in Ambler, Pennsylvania. Laura is my husband's great-grandmother.
