In the War of 1812, WILLIAM Waterman was Captain of a company in service under MAJOR J. SPRING from 17 to 20 June 1814.

He was one of the Representatives of York County to the Maine Legislature in 1827.

On 30 Jan. 1828, BRIG. GEN. WILLIAM Waterman was elected major-general of the First Division of State Militia by the Maine House of Representatives, the Senate concurring. On 29 may 1829, MAJ. GEN. WILLIAM Waterman and STEPHEN WOODMAN, JR., were elected delegates to the Democratic Republican State Convention at Augusta from Buxton.

He was listed under his sons DAVID and JOHN in the Census of 1850 at Buxton, aged 66, born in Mass.

Jacqueline, I don't mean to impune the authority of your sources. But I really don't see how this is humanly possible. Something must be wrong. Fear would have been 64 years old when she had William. There must be some other mother or the source is wrong.

Jacki - I only copied the information that you requested, which was extensive. I did not miss a generation. In doing genealogy and when you type this information online, you have to be careful to proof read it thoroughly first. I did not appreciate the posting, saying that it was my error, even though you did not mention my name. I have spent over 10 hours working on information for you, at no benefit to me. I did numerous, numerous pages of scans and spent several hours of typing to the message board, which was lost when AOL booted me offline. My scanner quit after all of the heavy books and scanning were used for your benefit. I was hoping to help you and others. I do extensive genealogical posting online and I try to do it accurately. So, let's not impune others, please - let's take credit where credit is due - for both the good and bad results - or simply leave that type of posting unsaid in the message boards. Lesson learned? I am sorry you are upset. You know I appreciate so very much your taking the time to scan those pages (and doing this not at my request) when I simply asked you if you type the line back from JOHN HENRY WATERMAN with each spouse to the emigrant WATERMAN so that I could try to find it from another source than the book. I was totallly astounded that you sent all those pages to me.

I have checked all the pages I printed out and went back just now to go over the scans sent and the generation for WILLIAM WATERMAN, b. 1749, was not included in the set you sent. However, it was MY FAULT not to have noticed this missing generation. I was mortified to have made such a mistake, and apologize for any comment I made in reply to the person who noticed this error in the descendants report I sent to this board (and list) about the scan sent by you.

The wonder is that my FTM didn't tell me I was missing a generation. Usually it does.

Please accept my apology and know that I really appreciate all the great help you gave me.
