I am very interested in knowing the names of the John S Waterman children in this family photograph. I assume that Eliza Ann Waterman is between her parents in the front row. I would guess that William, Jacob and John S Jr are in the back row and that Henry or Daniel is in the front row on the basis of their respective ages.

Direct relation of William Waterman

What happened to her after that I would like to know ? I have heard a story of her marrying a Stuntsman who used to fly ON planes over Niagara Falls !! How correct that is holds some question !! I would appreciate anyone who could give me more information .

Mary (?) Waterman, d. 11 May 1818 ae 89, b. abt 1729, bur. Hartford, CT

I am trying to find information on a Mary Waterman who is buried in the Old South Burying Ground on Maple Avenue in Hartford, CT. Her stone says that she died on 11 May 1818 at age 89, making her birth about 1729. Also in the same cemetery are Charles and Anna (Starr) Waterman, who are my 4G Grandparents. I am trying to find out Mary's relationship to them, if any, and if she could possibly be the mother of Charles, of whom I know nothing of his parentage. Genealogical books list him as a Hessian soldier who deserted to the Revolutionary cause. Anna was the daughter of Nathaniel and Ann (Rice) Starr of Middletown, CT. I would like to identify this "Mary's" maiden name, if, indeed her married name was Waterman. If Waterman was her given surname, I would like to know her parentage. Can anyone help to identify Mary or any information about her? Currently, there is a preservation committee working diligently to restore this historic cemetery, and they might enjoy knowledge of her also. They are also seeking photos of the Old South Burying Ground to authentically restore the grounds to its original condition. If anyone has photos of Hartford from around 1800 or slightly later, and they include the Old South Burying Ground, I would love to have copies and would provide them to the preservation commission.

Eliza Susan Waterman was my great/great grandmother. On her marriage certificate to John Hambledon in 1853 it is noted that her father was John Waterman-deceased-Upholsterer. There are so many John Watermans on 1841/1851 census !! Eliza's address is given just Croydon at the time of her marriage. They were married at All Saints in the Parish of Croydon,Surrey. I would appreciate any guidance anyone can give me on where to look next. Eliza was born 1830 and I have found her on the censuses as born London or Middlesex. I have some suspician that she could have been named Elizabeth really. Thank you for any help.Margaret

While at an antique show in Illinois recently, I found a lovely old photo marked on the back with " RUTH A. WATERMAN 1 Yr." Although she is a baby, it is a very distinct photo and perhaps someone would recognize a family resemblance. If you would like it scanned to you please let me know.

The only other information was on the front - the photography studio was Benedict, Barrington, Illinois.

I hope she fits into a family.

Jane

Decendants of John Waterman Revolutionary War Officer?

I am hoping the list can help me with my brick wall. John Waterman (died December 16,1825) was married to Elizabeth Torrey (died July 3,1827) Both are buried in Worcester, Otsego County,NY. One of their sons was William Torrey Waterman who married Rachel Lovejoy in 1803. According to Donald Jacobus' book, William Torrey Waterman had two sons, William and Henry. William Torrey Waterman died during the War of 1812 and according to the book, the sons went to live with William Torrey Waterman's brother John in Otsego County NY. The sons later went"to NYC". I have been able to find one of the sons (Henry) living in Brooklyn and I can tie Henry to being my gg grandfather. The brick wall that I have hit is to be able to conclusively tie Henry Waterman to his father William Torrey Waterman. Is there anyone who might have access to old Waterman bible records, know of available Chuch records or possibly probate or adoption records that maight show this link? Thanks for your thoughts and or input.

Steve Waterman
Virginia

Morton/Waterman/Crafts in Ohio- photo book

I was at an antique sale today and found a unique little 2 by 3 inch photo-book which belonged to Susie C. Morton Pierce. Each picture is labelled neatly with a name, and their relation to Sue Morton. I looked up her genealogy (http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=:320851...) to see if I could find it online.

The pictures included are of herself(2); her parents Martha E. Waterman and Henry Morton; her sister Emma M. Morton; her grandparents Susan A. Crafts and William Waterman; her great-grandfather Reverend Ashley Crafts; and another picture at the end which the name is missing on. There is an empty slot labelled Fred Henry Morton, her brother.

If anyone is interested in seeing this, etc. please let me know by responding to this or emailing me (jadey213@yahoo.com).
Waterman's Search

Charles C. Waterman b. 1816, KY found in 1850 pop.census, married to Mary Ann Brown b.1823, KY. Marriage lic. gives date of marriage Dec. 3, 1842. Charles C. and Mary are my great-great grandparents. I obtained a land transaction document that states that buyers Charles and Mary Waterman purchased lot #4, block #2 in Pichrell's north addition to the town of Mechanicsburg, Illinois on 22 May 1852 of 40 acres for $15 cash in hand. The thing that is so interesting is that Mary also signed the document.
Children: Sarah Elizabeth Betty b. 1843, Matilda Jane b. 1847, Julia Ann, b. 1850, M.C. (female) b. 1853, C.H. (male)b. 1856, Thomas b. 1859. All children b. IL. Any help on ancestors or descendants would be greatly appreciated.
Shirley Harris

William Waterman from Keokuk, Iowa 1884-1933

Does anyone have information on this man? He is my great-grandfather. He married Inez Fields around 1925 She had two children. Evlyn born around 1927and William Raymond Waterman Born 6-9-1931 (This is my grandpa). Story goes that my great-grandfather died in 1933 (maybe from a heart attack) I think that they were living in Missouri at the time. However in the 1930 census it states that he was born in Iowa.
It has been said that my ggrandfather was disowned for marrying my grandma who was of poor family. Now that I know he was married once before, I am wondering if he was disowned because of the entire relationship with my ggrandmother? maybe he was married and had an affair and she got pregnant. My ggreatgrandmother was only 15 when she married her husband.

I hope someone knows more about this family. I am sure that William must of had more children if he was married before.

Amanda Waterman Johnson
I am confused to certain dates. It shows that he was married for the first time at 25.

My grandmother was Ines (Tiffany) Dickinson, and her parents, my great-grandparents, were Edward C. & Eudora E. Tiffany. In my pursuit to find my ancesters final resting place, I found that my great-grandparents did not have a grave marker, so I am in the process of purchasing one. However, I can't seem to find the birthdate of Eudora, and I was in hope that someone searching this message board, would be able to help. Any assistance that you might be able to provide, would be sincerely appreciated.
Thank you.
Ed.

I'm searching for William Torrey Waterman. In Donald Jacobus' book, 'Decendants of Robert Waterman', it is mentioned that William Torrey Waterman joined in the War of 1812 as a privateer, was captured in the West Indies and died in an English prison. This is a brickwall for me in trying to determine his decendants. My additional research shows that he married Rachelle Lovegrove 1803 in Troy and I find him in the 1810 Census in Watervliet. Any additional help in recommending resources to search would be sincerely appreciated.

Thomas WATTERMAN, accidentally shot himself about half past 11 o'clock, this forenoon, under the following circumstances:

It appears that he had hired his sloop, named the Daniel Horner, which he
has been running between here and the neighboring ranches, trading in vegetables most of the time, to another party, and was removing his things
from her. Among these was a loaded shot-gun. In taking it out of the cabin,
the hammer, by some means unknown, got caught and falling on the cap,
immediately exploded. The whole contents of the gun passed through the left lobe of the brains, killing Capt. WATTERMAN instantly. The Cornoer will hold an inquest immediately. The deceased has a brother in the employ of Lyon & Co.'s brewery of San Francisco.

DATA: Waterman, L. listed in 1929 Richmond, VA yearbook

DATA Message RE: The Marshallite, 1929 John Marshall High School yearbook (Richmond, VA).

This yearbook lists the members of the Senior class of 1929, faculty members, members of the Corps of Cadets, and many members of various clubs (not all). Unfortunately, it does not list the names of the members of the Junior, Sophomore or Freshmen classes (only officers listed for those classes). It includes the following name(s):

Waterman, L.

There's over 1,900 records, so I've only listed the name(s), as it appears in the yearbook in this message.

If you would like to view all of the information that I extracted from the yearbook, I have uploaded it to my freepages genealogy web site. The link to the first page of these extracts on my web site is:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~sassytazzy/family/r...

Or it can be accessed through the "General Research" link on the main page at:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~sassytazzy/index.ht...

Please note that my site contains free genealogy related data & IS NOT a "commercial" or "advertising" site. Until I can get back out & do research on my own families, my hobby is posting free genealogy related data online that may help other reseachers. I put all kinds of genealogy information on my web site (including information others send to me to share on the site), not just data about the families I am researching (therefore I can't answer questions about everyone I have listed on the site). I hope the information I've put online helps someone with their research . . .

Susan :)
Sassytazzy's Online Genealogy Research Library
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~sassytazzy/index.ht...

Hannah Waterman m. Dyar Leffingwell

I have an ancestor Dyar (or Dyer?)
Leffingwell who married a Hannah Waterman.
I have no info on her, but Dyar was born in
1770. Can anybody help me find out who her
parents were? I would assume they all lived
in Connecticut since that's where Dyar
served in the revolutionary war. According
to the DAR lineage books, Dyar and Hannah
had a son named Dr. Elisha Leffingwell, who
married a Harriet Chenery (Cheney?), they
had a daughter named Harriet Waterman
Leffingwell who married a Thomas Henry
Clark. THEIR daughter Carrie Fletcher Clark
was my great-great-grandmother. ::whew::!!

Thanks for any help y'all can offer...

Edith Frost
edithfrost@yahoo.com

I'm trying to contact any descendants or family of Henry Augustus Aubrey Waterman (also known as Harry), born 1897 in Peckham Rye Camberwell, died 1961 in Purley Surrey. His father was Joseph Louis Waterman (also known as Louis D Waterman), born in Suffolk c1856. His mother was Emma Waterman nee Preston born in Cambridgeshire c1870. He had a brother George born c1892 and a sister Gertrude born c1890. All this from 1901 census when the family was living in Clifton VilIa Mitcham. I believe he had two daughters who will probably now be in their 70's if still alive.

Any help much appreciated.

She died in 1999 and was buried in Missouri, and I noticed today that she has no grave stone. All she has is a piece of paper with her name on it to mark her grave. It said that she was 73 years of age.

Now, I know that we have some Waterman’s close by, because I have some friends with that name. I just can’t imagine someone without some sort of grave stone though. I mean… they did this back in the olden days, but not now that I know of. I would also understand if it were jut a couple years ago, because sometimes grave stones take a couple years to make.

Anyhow, I almost feel like buying her one even if it has just her name on it. At least she would have something. Does anyone know if this could turn out to be a big deal if I did so? My mom said that she might not have any family left. So, I can understand that, but still. It just bothers me for some reason.

I might be going over my head with this one. Eileen might have been a real bad person, but I just don’t think that’s right to have her go without a grave stone… especially at 73 years of age. Poor thing. I understand that, but this sort of affected me though. Any ideas how I can go about this? Thanks for any help that you might provide me.

P.S. I am of no relation to the WATERMAN family.
