I doubt there's a direct connection to your familys' lineage but I do have a distant relative connection to mine, being a Wilhelmina Waterman born Nov. 28, 1840 in Lippe Detmold, Germany and dying July 13, 1907 in Evansville, Indiana, the spouse of a Henry George Reuter also born in Germany, known area unknown to me. One of these days I'll try harder to find out where. This is just probably trivia to you but one never knows until you know.

I'm looking for information about Bryant Clark Waterman, son of Richard Clark Waterman and Catherine Coffin. According to the cemetery transcription for New Forest Cemetery (in Utica, Oneida, New York) found on the USGENWEB site, he and his wife are buried there. Does anyone have access to information about his death (or his wife's) - other than the transcription? I've tried to contact someone from the cemetery, but they don't return my calls. I'd really appreciate help!

I contacted 3 people on Genes Reunited on your behalf and have had one reply already!
Have Agness WERE (c.1764 Jan 05 Uffculme, Devon) who married Samuel WATERMAN (b.c1860 Wiveliscombe, Somerset) on Oct 21, 1785 in Wiveliscombe with 10 known children, all born in Somerset.
I married into the Waterman family (43 yrs ago). Our granddaughter & I have been doing Waterman research for the past couple of years. We had a head start from some family papers left to my husband. Anyway, my husband's great grandfather was named Franklin ALONZO Waterman. He was born in Johnston, RI 02/16/1844 and died in Providence, RI 04/06/1886. He married Hannah EDDY in Providence on 05/30/1867. We have not found the ALONZO name in any of our other research. I know it was common at the time to sometimes use the family Doctor's name as a middle name for a child, and I am wondering if that is the case here.

Not sure I can help, however reading your post, from what I know, or have been told Mrs Waterman came from England and her three sons settled in Indiana, one leads to my John S Waterman married to Anna Starr (Staire) (Starr)

What has caught my interest in your post, was that a Charles & Anna Starr where buired in the same cemetery as the Mary Waterman you are looking for. Based on her age it is possible that she could be connected to my Watermans, and moved from PA to CT, however most of the Watermans up there are all connected.

I've not been sucessfull, as of yet with getting past by John S Waterman ...

I believe that the 3 sons of the Watermans that I am looking for, who came with their mother were, Daniel, John S. & Robert, My John S & Daniel were born in Pa.

Benson, Carswell, Castleberry, Krupp, Nicholson, & Related Families
Entries: 2000 Updated: 2007-05-14 00:09:02 UTC (Mon) Contact: Betsy B DeVault

ID: I369
Name: John S WATERMAN
Sex: M
Birth: JAN 1811 in Pennsylvania
Death: 9 DEC 1894 in Elkhart, Indiana
Burial: Rice Cemetery, Elkhart, Indiana
Occupation: cabinet maker
Note:
Note: John Waterman's mother came from England

1880 Census - Indiana, Elkhart, Olive Age 69 cabinet maker wife Mary A
1870 Census - Indiana, Elkhart, Concord Age 58 keep house Mary age 31
Change Date: 13 OCT 2005

Marriage 1 Anna STAIR b: 29 JAN 1818 in Pennsylvania
Married: in Ohio
Children
Eliza Ann WATERMAN b: 6 OCT 1843 in Columbianna County, Ohio
Jacob WATERMAN b: 30 DEC 1833 in Ohio
John S WATERMAN JR b: 25 DEC 1837 in Columbiana, Ohio
Henry WATERMAN
William WATERMAN b: est 1832
Daniel WATERMAN b: 1844 in Pa

Marriage 2 Mary BAIR b: 1841 in Ohio
Married: 7 JUN 1870 in Elkhart, Indiana 1
So happy to hear from you. My Grandfather Smith Frederick Krupp was Rhoda Krupp Stevia's brother. I would love to hear from you and you are welcomed to email me at
devaultbd@gmail.com. I am sorry to hear that Beulah Meeler has passed away. I believe that I have some corespondence from her. I lost my beloved Uncle Fred Krupp also in 2002, and he was always so faithful in keeping in touch with all of his aunts. He was always so fond of each of them, including Ronda, Maude, Hannah, Eliza. I have a wealth of wonderful old pictures of them, along with their mother and father. Do email when you can, I'm willing to share anything I have.
Sincerely,
Betsy B DeVault

After recently obtaining a Birth Certificate I find that Florence Rose Waterman born 1893 Croyden,Surrey was my Aunt. I know that she emigrated on the Majestic in 1909 arriving at Ellis Island New York on 23 June 1909. She was with her Grandma Maria and Uncle William. What happened to her after that I would like to know ? I have heard a story of her marrying a Stuntsman who used to fly ON planes over Niagara Falls !! How correct that is holds some question !! I would appreciate anyone who could give me more information .

Referencing my earlier message, I was possibly in error as to the location of John Henry Waterman's and Mary Howland Nash's marriage as having taken place in Buxton, ME. It could have been that John's job as a machinist took him to East Bridgewater, MA. According to the 1855 Massachusetts Census, he was living next door to the Nash family in E. Bridgewater.

They are both buried in Colebrook Cemetery, Whitman, MA.

Joan Boetger

Death in NV 1868-Al. P. WATERMAN, 34 years old, native of Providence, RI

Am not related. May be of interest to someone who is. I have no further info but additional old newspaper extracts may be found at URL:

newspaperabstracts.com/index.

Vern D
/////////////////////////////////
Transcribed by Dee Sardoc
////////////////////////////////
Stockton Daily Independent
Stockton, San Joaquin Co., CA
********************************

>>TUESDAY, 24 NOV 1868<<

ANOTHER HOMICIDE -- The Gold Hill 'News' of Nov. 20th, has the following in regard to the killing of Al. P. WATERMAN, once a well known sport of Sacramento: Al. P. WATERMAN, so well known in this section, and formerly figuring before the Courts and for a short period in State's Prison as a stage robber, was shot and killed about 5 o'clock last evening at the Delta saloon, C street, Virginia, by Myles GOODMAN, proprietor of a faro institution in the rear rooms of the saloon. GOODMAN is a very quiet, respectable appearing man, such as will always avoid a personal difficulty unless it be forced upon him, and as for WATERMAN, although also a sport, all agree in classing him as one of the quietest and most well behaved men imaginable, except on rare occasions when he was under the influence of strong drink and excitement, when he was dangerous or might easily be made so, although he was far from being considered a "rough," yet he was looked upon as a man of undoubted courage, nerve and determination, fearing nothing on the face of the earth. He was married about a year ago to Miss Maggie McCORMICK, of Virginia. His wife is now at Treasure City, White Pine District, and on 3 or 4 days ago we are informed she sent him a letter, with money in it informing him that she was getting pretty well established in business out there, and would write him again in a few days and send him more money to come out there with. Thus a few days later and the bloody deed would doubtless not have occurred. Al. WATERMAN was 34 years of age, and a native of Providence, Rhode Island. He received 4 pistol ball wounds, the weapon used being an English self cocking 5-shooter, revolving pistol, 4 chambers of which were discharged. One ball entered his right breast, about an inch forward of the nipple, another was received in the left groin, another in the throat, just to the left of the windpipe, and another, evidently received while in a stooping position, probably in falling, passed through the top of his head. Upon killing WATERMAN, GOODMAN gave himself into the charge of the officers who first arrived, and was taken to the county jail, and after an examination was held in the sum of $2500 to appear before the Grand Jury, with C.H. VAN GORDER and W.N. LEET as securities.

bdevault51 - I am out of state currently, and away from my library, but have you checked the 3 Waterman volumes for the information that you need? Being that Ohio was a territory of CT in some manner, it is very possible that the Ohio and CT Waterman families are related. I have printed your posting and will research in my books at home when I get there - which may not be for quite some time. Lynn

Hi Eric - We are definitely related then. Charles is a puzzle to me. We can't even locate his grave where I know he was buried. I am told he was Hessian, and also a CT Patriot - on the Patriot's listing. I would love to contact you. How?
