Waters - Summers - ALAMO

My anscestor Rosanna Waters, daughter of Colonel Philemon Waters, married John Summers in approximately 1780.
One William E. Summers died at the Alamo. I've read one Thomas Waters also died at the Alamo. My father's name is Thomas Waters Evins III. I haven't yet verified the Thomas Waters (Alamo) is related - records indicate he was from England by way of Louisiana (New Orleans Grays?).
I've read a William Summers died 1847 in Pueblo, Mexico. The leader of his company was Captain J.H. Williams.
The Waters and Summers families were "kindred families" - I believe in and around Spartanburg. I'm wondering if the men of the Alamo were friends and/or acquaintances prior to their last battle.
Do any of the names or relationships look familiar?
