Re: Watson by marriage Fanny/Francis b East indies
We have just seen your posting regarding Frances/Fanny Watson and think we may have some information for you.
Frances/Fanny is my husbands great great grandmother and like you we have struggled to find any real information about her. We can tell you that Fanny ended her days in the Leicestershire and Rutland County Lunatic Asylum, having been admitted on 2/11/1880 after an attack on John's wife Sarah. She died on 22/2/1885 from senile decay and was buried at Groby Parish Church on 28/2/1885.
The asylum records revealed that her surname was actually Scott and that she had been living with a man named Watson. There were no further details about him. Her place of birth was shown as Brigstock Northants, but we have been unable to confirm that this was correct.
My husband(John Watson)is the grandson of William Watson who was born to Sarah and John in 1896.
If this information has been of use to you, we are happy to share any further information you may be interested in.
