Hi! Thanks for the offer. My questions:

1. What are the name of the book, author, publication data?

2. What geographic areas and time periods are covered?

I'm researching a Watson family that was in Wayne & Cayuga Counties, NY in the early and mid-1840's and moved to Michigan after the Civil War. Not sure where they were earlier than 1820 or so.

If your book looks lie it might cover that place/time and you're willing to do look-ups, please let me know and I'll send my info. Thanks!

Martha Watson

I'm looking for info on my grandfather George Henry Watson and his family. He was originally from Washington county, NC. He may have been married to Annie Jones and they had a son by the name of George Watson in 1923. For a short time they resided in Philadelphia, PA. I believe he may have died in 1923.

Any info that anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Believed to be related to Forrest Watson, perhaps brother. Thought to have been a butcher, possibly in Philadelphia. Best guess on his birth is c. 1900.

You are the first contact I've had with anyone researching this Watson family. I too have found the Pembroke/Pemberton/Farnbrook listings after my original post. I am leaning to Pemberton because...

http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp has:

Pemberton Watson married Mary Wharton
30 Sep 1855, Scotland, Missouri

then notice from Isaac Berton Watson's obit:

Isaac Berton Watson, was born May 7, 1850, in Scotland county, Missouri,.....
He leaves to mourn his loss, his devoted wife and four children, ..... two half sisters, Mrs. FANNY CLINE of Sperry, Missouri, and Mrs. Mary Stone of Greensburg, Missouri...

at: http://www.sos.mo.gov/archives/resources/deathcertificates/#... if you put in Frances Cline and Adair County, you can view and print her death certificate. Her parents are listed as Pemberton B. Watson and Julia Underwood.

So perhaps Pemberton was married 3 times?

Would you mind posting info on your gr.gr.grandmother? Birth/marriage/death? I would so like to add that to my family information.

Re: Looking for parents of Isaac Watson 1850-1927 MO & KS - 1860 census

We know from Isaac's obit that his father Pemberton/Pembroke was married at least twice. It is only speculation but if there were three marriages the 1855 could have been of short duration and Pemberton could have been widowed again by 1860. I have been unable to find Pemberton after 1860 in census though I have searched using both names and just initials. However last night after reading your post, I found this listing:

http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~moscotla/Probate/ProbateIn...

Scotland County Probate Court Records 1842-1892

Watson, Pemberton B.

I checked the online listing for my local library and they have a copy of the book 'Wills of Scotland County, Missouri, 1843-1975' compiled by Mabel Phillips Baker and am heading down there tomorrow to check it out. Will let you know if I find anything of interest and thanks for your gr.gr. grandmother's info.
Sorry it has been so long for me to answer. I haven't been able to get on the computer. What information do you have about Anson and Johnson Co? Do you have any record on Isaiah and the children he had in his house in the census in 1840 or when he died? I came from W.J Watson which is the son of Joseph P. which is the son of John which is the son of Isaiah. My mothers name was Eva Watson Gupton. Which line did you come from? Would like to share what information we can. Let me know if you have any questions.

That is interesting about the homes being next door, and kind of provides more evidence for the name Pemberton.

Well, I was at the library when it opened and found the book and...nothing. No Watson will mentioned at all. I guess I'll have to send to Scotland County to find out exactly what they have in the way of a will.

I *might* have some information for you, but this part of the family is sketchy. My great-great grandmother is Mary Caroline Watson (b. 1838 in Maryland, but lived in Jefferson, Scotland Co., Missouri). She's listed in the 1850 census as having the following siblings: Eliza J. (b. 1841), Louisa (b.1843), Sarah E.(b. 1845), James T (b. 1847), and Isaac B. (b. 1849). Parents are listed as Pembroke Watson (b. 1817 in Delaware) and Elizabeth (Bell) (b. 1815 in Maryland).
The only problem is that by 1860, it appears that the family has disbanded. I can find a Pemberton Watson with only the youngest child, Martha...and the other children parcelled out. So, maybe Elizabeth died soon after the youngest was born. Isaac looks like he's living with a Patten and Rachel McDaniel in Jefferson. My gg-grandmother left the state in 1857 with her new husband for California. I can find no other records of the family. It's difficult because the father's name seems unreliable. I've even seen a transcription of his name as "Farnbrook"....This has been a real dead end for me. Any help would be great!

Here's another wrinkle. I have a Pemberton Watson living in Sand Hill, Scotland, MO in 1860 with only his daughter Martha (age 8). If this is the same man and he married in 1855, where's his wife? Although, it still seems odd that there would be two men of the same age in the same area with this name...What a puzzle!

I'm not sure this is the same person...but would be strange to have two people with such an unusual name. I can't find Pemberton after the 1860 census.

Here's the info on my gg grandmother, Mary Caroline Watson
Birth: Sep 1838 in Maryland
Death: 27 Aug 1931 in Oakland, California, USA
Married William Thomas Bradley on 30 Nov 1856 in Scotland

She left soon after her marriage with William on a wagon train to Napa Valley, California.

If you have any other census info on Pemberton/Pembroke, I would really love that.
Thanks!

My state as well as others have a genealogical division thru our local library. My state calls it "NCLIVE". The library will give you a password to enter. It is free through the state and will give you access to census records for FREE. It was recently changed here to enter your library card number to enter, just call your library it will be worth a tremendous amount to you in your searches for relatives. It is at this time available for the US only. This site is worth paying for to get death certs and marriage info. All of that info is available also at local courthouses in the areas that your relatives lived/married/died. If they were in your state, you may get info at your local courthouse. Fees are usually $10 per document but you can subscribe here for a month for $20. Just have a game plan to get the most for your money. Do not trust all of the family trees that you find unless they have backup to support the info. Many people just copy and merge into their own trees without a second look, there are many people in the world with the same names, even in the same county and state as your own relatives. There are also many sites available to use for searching war soldiers (Rev + Civil War) that never even show you here. I find that many docs on here the translator mispelled the name or it was hard to read and then you have a hard time looking/searching for what you KNOW exists. This is when access to the census thru the library helps you find it. Those docs are entered by experienced people who figure out what the names really are and not guessed at. For ex, my granddads name was O.D.(initials, no name) But the docs I found here had him in the search as: OintonlyDintonly. He would have been unfindable, but thru the library I found him and the census actually read O.(intial only) D. (Intial only), very easy to see what it said but noone took the time to put two and two together. Hope this helps you, Pam Watson

I have never seen those forms ANYWHERE. I would copy them from online and put them on a floppy or flashdrive and take them to copy/print store and have them print them out. Pam Watson

If you have or come across a "Charlie Watson" m: Sarah McFarland, both born NC (per son's census records) no dates, guessing 1840-50 for birth. Son born (my GGrandDad), Charles Wesley Watson 1876 in NC. These are my road blocks. Thanks, Pam Watson
