William Watt or Watts (abt 1820-bef 1900) m. Eliza A. Nagle or Naugle, dau/o Christian Nagle & Sarah Steckel or Stoekel. They had Sarah J. (abt 1861), George W. (Jul 1864), Clara E. (abt 1866), Annie Rebecca (Oct 1868), Charles P. (Feb 1871), and one other child (d. bef 1900). Eliza was from Hanover Twp., Luzerne Co., and the couple were in Hanover in 1860 and in Franklin, Columbia Co., in 1870 & 1880. Eliza was a widow, living in Wilkes-Barre in 1900. Any help on their descendants or on William's ancestors would be welcome. I have Nagle and Steckel info to exchange.

Gloria,
Did you check the 1850 Census. I found him there with Allis and Angeline. He had 3 Amons children living with them.
In l840 I can oly find John Watts in Coloumbus, County, N. C. He had 6 members in household but there is another John Watts in Colombus, County in 1850 when John Was in Robeson County so I dont think the 1840 could be our Watts.

Thanks for the contact. I have a a Sevier County Census for 1850 for the family of Ruebin Watts (Wats). wife was Elizabeth (Banks) Watts, showing a James born in 1842 and I have entered that he died in 1915, I don't know where the date of death came from. There was another son named William born 1844.
Cocke County census for 1860 shows more children, Nancy M, Susanah, Mary, Jacob (my great grandfather)Jaspe, Julia, & Sarah.

Our Watts' match your Reubin Watts. Could you share any information with me?

As far back as I can get is James Watts (Wats on the 1880 Williamson County, Tn. Census) who married Laura Jane Hendon. James was born ca 1847 and Laura was born ca 1851. They were married in Bedford County, Tn in 1869.

I am looking for parents, siblings, any information on Edward F. Watts, born abt 1844 in Canada, probably Ontario. Both his parents were born in England abt 1813.
Edward came to the US in 1861. He married Harriet Wadman in 1867 in NYS, probably Onondaga Co., NY.
In 1880 NYS Census they resided in Tully (Syracuse area , Onondaga Co., NY; removed 1900 to Triangle, Broome Co., NY.
I have seen postings for Watts in Ontario, Canada for Edward and Eliza Watts but my Edward does not seem to fit into this family.
During research I found Amos and Rebecca Watts living 1851 in Ontario, Ernestown that might possibly be my Edwards parents.
I am really puzzled and it is difficult to find Canadian information. Can anyone help?

Hello - in answer of your question about John Watts being the father to your William Wythe Watts - NO he was W. W. Watts uncle - William traveled with John Watts to Searcy co. from TN - through KY and then on to AR in 1836-1838.
It is believed by many that W. W. Watts father was Levi Watts - but as far as I know there is NO PROOF of that.

I am looking for information to the mother and father of William M Watts b. 1827 in Ohio. He married Rachel Prough 29 Apr 1846 in Hocking Co., Ohio and they had nine children Hannah, William, Mary, Elizabeth, Nannie, Philoma, Elzina, Jane, and David. About 1849-1850 they moved to Jersey or Green Co. Illinois.
I show Williams father to have been born in VA and his mother born in PA and I have not been able to find any other information.

Hello I looking for any info on Captain Watts and his wife who lived in Pine Bluff Ark 1920. They opened there home to unwed Mothers and children from bad situations. There home was on West 6th st. My father was Orbett Hale adopted from there. His Mother was Becky Hale who stayed there for awhile. Anyone who has any records of info about the Watts or Hales, I would greatly appreciate your help. I know Watts was a member of Volunteers of America but don't know if that is how he got his rank. In those days his home was consider a orphanage don't know if they had a name. I do know they knew my Father til 1955. The Watts were a white family.

I am the great grandson of Julia Watts, daughter of Levi Watts and Malissa Glathery. There is no mention of Julia marrying Columbus V. McCain in our family history. I do find in my research on Ancestry.com that Julia E. Watts of Clay county, daughter of Hollingworth Watts did marry Columbus V. McCain on 11 Jul 1880 in Clay County Alabama by C.I. Wesley. A copy of what I found is:

It's good to have a California Cousin! I'm in Michigan and as we near winter, I sure wish I was back down South. I tried to list Malissa McGlarty correctly, but for some reason, Archives.com would only allow the listing Mc Glathery, with a space between the letters.

I do not have any documentation as to the exact date of Malissa's death, but it would appear to be sometime around the birth of Julia, according to the same census records you cite.

Tell me more> I have Watts from Scotland that immigrated to USA, some settling in ME, first, and then MA. I know they were in those places, but its still conceivable they went elsewhere as well.

Names, dates I don't have handy at moment, but do have the information. Names (some of) George, Henry, Seymour(although he was born in MA I believe) Seymour is actually my connection to the Watts. He married my grandmother Mary Ann (O'Donnell) cousin, her name was Susan M O'Donnell.

He married Susan M O'Donnell(my grandmothers cousin) in 1922

Susan M O'Donnell was born on Aug 19 1898 in Boston. She and Seymour were married July 16 1922 at Our Lady of Holy Rosary in Boston(probably one of those no longer in existance?) Her parents were John F O'Donnell and Bridget Dohert of Co Cork Ireland.

I'd like to know (for at some point they must have) William Watts or any of his family immigrated, where from, and more perhaps his (William's) parents, and sibblings if thats possible since we are going back to about 1720 . Information I have does say that William was born in Ireland, but not where. or any other inf. Margaret his wife was apparently born in Wells ME 1716.

Yes. I agree that the Julia Elmira WATTS who married McCain was an error. My apologies!
Your Julia WATTS, mother of Claud Chandler would have been an Aunt to my mother Opal WATTS (b. 1915 - d. 1994 married Tommie McGough). You obviously are related to Claud and Maggie's daughter Ann, right?

I am curious as to WHY you listed Malissa (daughter of Darlin and Matilda NELSON McGlathery, simply as Glathery?
I do have the few pages to Levi WATTS's Confederate military records. Do you know if Malissa died folowing the birth of Julia? According to censes records, Julia was aborn about 1862-ish.
By December 1867, records show Levi married to a widow named Elisabeth D. CHILDERS HUNTER, widow of Andrew J. HUNTER killed during the war leaving two children named Mattie Francis and John Lewis HUNTER (found on the 1870 census living with Levi and Elisabeth.

Mary Ann Pinfold emigrated to the US in 1882 but her 1st husband died while on ship. Believe she married Benjamin Harrison Watts in late 1883.

My 4th great grandfather, Thomas Watts, was born in Virginia in 1792. He left Virginia for Canada before 1821 because his son, Thomas Jr was born that year in Canada. He also had a daughter Francis AKA Fanny b. 1824 in Canada.

They was always some talk his family were Loyalists. But, some things point to them being in Quebec.

About 1837, he purchased land in Northwest Indiana and there they all remained until their deaths.

In the 1861 Census for Johnston Parish, Queens County, New Brunswick, Canada there is a family of Watts that consists of:
Father: Samuel (born abt. 1805)
Mother: Sarah (born abt. 1808 - maiden name probably Little)
Son: William (born abt. 1838)
Son: James (born abt. 1841)
Son: Samuel (born abt. 1845)
Son: Isaac (born abt. 1851)
Daughter: Mary (born abt. 1837)
Daughter: Agnes (born abt. 1849)

I have had no luck figuring out what happened to this family after the 1861 census. Hoping it might right a bell with someone out there.

Hi Joan,

I came across another posting from several years previous (yes, I realize even this posting is 3 years old) that mentioned a James Michael Watts who married Mary Ann Perry in 1867 in New Brunswick. They had several children, born in Saint John, and then moved to Massachusetts. Not 100% certain that this posting was also done by you.

The posting I did see mentioned that James Michael Watts parents were Samuel Watts and Sarah Unknown (found in the 1861 census - New Brunswick).

Is this your Watts line you are researching?????

Just confirming....are you saying that in your research you have found that James Michael Watts' parents were not Samuel and Sarah Watts (family that is found in the 1861 census in Queens County, New Brunswick)?

I was hoping that I had found a possible clue to what happened to Samuel, Sarah and the rest of the family. No definite clues after the 1861 census.
