I haven't quite read all of the other postings, but I thought I'd send out one of my own. I am Dawn Ellis, formerly Dawn Wawro and for most of my life I was sure no other Wawro existed who I didn't know of. Boy I was surprised. My grandpa, John Wawro, came over from Poland with his mother and father and sister Julia when he was about 4 in 1909, I think. I think his parents names may have been Anna and Frank. They settled in St. Paul, Minnesota, and then had Julian, Helen, Victor, Tony, and Anne. My grandpa found his way to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, via working on the railroad, I think. He started his own heating service and married Georgia Marousek and they had my dad, John, and Carole, Suzanne, and Mary Ann. Mary Ann died at the age of 4 from measles or some other childhood disease. I don't know if Anna and Frank came over with any other family. I've often wondered. I've asked my dad but he recalls very litle. I don't know if he ever met his grandparents. I don't think so. Of my grandpa's brothers and sisters, Helen is still living in the St. Paul area.
