He was born in Rosemont, West Virginia, on February 24, 1920, the son of the late Edda Way and Nellie Schrader Way. His wife, Kathryn L. Surviving are two sons, Joseph M. Way Jr., and his wife, Judy, of Bridgeport, and Edward K. Way, and his wife, Freda, of Clarksburg; one half-brother, John Way, and an adopted sister, Naomi Murphy of Good Hope; five grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, and his wife, Mr. Way was preceded in death by one great-grandchild, one brother, Kenneth Way; and two sisters, Mary Freshour and Ruth Way.
Mr. Way was a United States Army veteran, having served in World War II.
He was a former coal miner, having worked for Reppert Coal Company and a salt miner, having worked for Morton Salt Company in Fairport Harbor, Ohio. He was Baptist by faith.
Family and friends will be received at the Davis Funeral Home, One Olen Thomas Drive, Rt. 98, Clarksburg/Nutter Fort on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. where funeral services will be held on Wednesday, with Pastor Thomas P. Horne presiding.Interment will follow in the Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, where full military services will be accorded by the Veterans Color Guard.

John Francis Way, 72, of Martinsburg, died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2006, at his home under the care of Hospice
of the Panhandle.
Born Aug. 20, 1933, in Rosemont, W.Va., he was the son of the late Edda K. and Lela Martin Way.
He was retired from the Social Security Administration after 33 years service, was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the American Legion and NARFE.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sylvia Jean Way; a son, John F. Way, Columbia, Md.; a daughter, Tamra Dodd, Fairmont; two grandchildren, Eric S. Way, Reisterstown, Md., and Rachael Dodd, Fairmont; and one great-grandchild, Skylar Dodd. Mr. Way?s wishes were to be cremated.
A memorial service will be held Friday, Aug. 11, 2006, at 11 a.m. at the Brown Funeral Home with Chaplain John Waindande and the Rev. Johnny Kelly officiating. Interment will be held at a later date at Green Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - John Francis Way, 72, of Martinsburg, died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2006, at his home.
Born Aug. 20, 1933, in Rosemont, W.Va., he was the son of the late Edda K. and Lela Martin Way.
