Wilfred E. Weare, the son of Roy E. and Allie (Simpson) Weare was born on February 11, 1930. He attended school at Stamford and graduated in 1947. Wilfred attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln and received his Bachelors in Science in 1951. He then started working for the Sunflower Ordinance Plant in Olathe, KS.
On July 25, 1952 Wilfred was united in marriage to Arlene Russell at Maywood, NE. They later moved to Curtis, NE where they ran the Photo Studio. In 1958 Wilfred started teaching in Maxwell, NE. The family then moved to Grand Forks, North Dakota where Wilfred received his Masters Degree of Science Teaching from the University of North Dakota in 1964. He then taught in Burns and Hines, Oregon for some years before they settled in Cedar Rapids, NE in 1976. Wilfred taught Junior High and High School Science, Chemistry, and Physics classes at Cedar Rapids High School until retiring in 2000. Following retirement Wilfred enjoyed spending his time working with computers. In September of this year due to his health Wilfred moved to Beverly Healthcare Center in Fullerton. Tuesday, November 7, 2006 Wilfred passed away at the Boone County Health Center in Albion at 76 years of age.
He was a member of the Disciples of Christ Church. Wilfred was a CMF, an elder, deacon, and a choir member. After moving to Cedar Rapids he and Arlene attended the United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife Arlene of Cedar Rapids, NE; 2 children: Evelyn Weare of North Hollywood, CA; and Henry Weare of Cedar Rapids, NE; 1 sister: Annabel Lee of Glendale, CA; along with other relatives and friends.
Wilfred was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter Alice Weare in 1998, and brothers John and Clifford Weare.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 15, 2006 at the United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids with Rev. Martin Leeper officiating. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. on Tuesday at the Levander Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids, NE. Burial of cremains will be at a later date.
