Old Furney G. Weatherington's Poem

Here is a poem of man named Furney G.,
I didn't say Arnold, Bob, George or Bernie...;
He was very unique with a different name...,
From North Carolina from wince he came...

Born about 1800 estimated to be,
They didn't keep much records as you can see;
There is little that is known of Furney before 1835....
Where he married his lovely wife Candis and had children six or five...

He could have been Francis,
And later changed it to be;
To our beloved relative of them all,
Weatherington, Furney, initial G.

In 1840, He was in Grayson County, VA, you might know,
In 1850, He was in Campbell County, GA, this is so...
In 1860, in Franklin County, Tennessee,
And finally settling down in Lawrence County, Indiana, all happily.

There was Furney, Candis, Cicero, and the late John,
With Martha, Alfred and George not to be left undone;
Their old daddy took good care of the family that you can plainly see,
For this very poem is about that man... Old Furney G.
