Wow. Very nice. I have been trying to prove a connection with the Webbs who were of Berks Co PA. They were quakers who migrated from England late 1600's and were closely related to the Boone family (as in Daniel Boone). Parksberg is just south of Reading PA, Berks Co PA. It is very possible this is a connection. I am particularly interested in Benjamin Webb b. 1762, his son Samuel Webb b. 1762 who married Sarah Haller, daut of a well known Rev war vet., Col. Henry Haller.

If this bible mentions any of these names, please reply to me on this board and via my email.
Thanks,
anne

Hello, I believe 2 of the Webb sisters you mention, Henrietta and Minnie, are on the 1911 census for Ontario. At http://automatedgenealogy.com you can search to see a partial transcription and then connect to a link to see the original census page.

In searching, Henrietta is listed as Henrettia, age 16, born in England, and came to Canada in 1902. She is in Keene village, Peterborough East county, and listed as a boarder in household of an elderly widow.

Minnie Webb is in Toronto Centre, at 176 Jarvis St., listed as age 19, a Domestic in a boarding house, and in household with a number of boarders. She is also listed as born in England and as came to Canada in 1902.

Were the 3 sisters sent as Home Children by Dr. Barnardos, and if so, has their agency in England been able to give you any information? Where did you obtain the information that Rose bred Samoyed dogs? Do you have any information on when or where she was breeding them? Have you contacted the Samoyed Club of Canada to see if they have any information on her? Do you know if any of these 3 sisters married?

Diana Gendron mgendron@bconnex.net P.S. I am answering on the Webb message board, although I first saw your query on the General Canada board. The administrator of the General Canada board often removes queries that do not pertain to Canada broadly. So the administration there may ransfer your query to the Webb message board.
I have a Hardy Webb b abt 1832, TN, son of Joshua and Susan. Joshua is the son of Dred and Sarah Webb. Dred is my 4thgreat grandfather. Your Hardy Webb must belong to this family as the Webbs and Ladymans left Rockingham NC to Henry TN, Then To Weakley Tn - then some of them to Stoddard Co, Mo. I show my Hardy had a son William b 1863 and unfortunately that's as far as I went with Hardy.

See 1850 Weakley Co, Tn Census. Hardy age 13 son of J(Joshua) and Susan .
Joshua is son of Dred Webb and brother to Mary Webb who married Benjamin Ladyman. Benjamin Ladyman, Joshua Webb, Richard Webb (also son of Dred) left Rockingham in
late 1820s - they show up in Henry Co, TN in 1830 Census and then in Weakley Co, 1840. Also another brother George, shows up in Weakley. Ladymons leave TN in 1854 to Greene Co AR along with Joshua and Susan . Hardy Webb is not in 1860 census in Weakley but in 1870 with son William. When Benjamin Ladyman dies his widow moves to Stoddard Co Mo where some of the other Webbs are. The Webbs and Ladymans apparently had a close relationship and moved with each other. I have nothing further on Hardy. Benjamin and Mary Webb Ladyman named one of their sons Hardy. Wish I could come up with your Jane McGuire.
Sorry Jane, I went through all of my Webb info - There is no James in any of my immediate family. There are plenty of them in and around -
Henry Co 1840 James Sr HN474, James Jr Hn474 and John Hn474 - my Benjamin (Head of Family) was still in Henry in 1840 HN453 - But I don't connect any of them --
Nor did I find a William . Sorry - wish I could have been some help.

Hi Helen,

Thanks for responding.

I did some more searching last night, and figured out that the William Webb family that can be found in the 1850 Henry Co., TN census came from Chatham Co., NC. I believe this is James' family.

Jane

Seth Webb of Nova Scotia - MiqMac lineage

I am researching Mary E Webb of Halifax Nova Scotia bn 1843 to Seth Webb and Francis Chandley. Family history has it that Mary (webb) Caldwell could wring a bed blanket dry with her bare hands. Her mother died young and her Miq Mac indian relatives would come in and clean her and her siblings home as her father worked days. I am quite proud of our Metis' heritage and would like to find documentary or more family lore as to our line. Seth Webb married to both Margret Clarke and Francis Amelia Chandley. Mary E. Webb married William Caldwell abt. 1868 . William Caldwell was son of Halifax N.S. 's first Mayor. Thanks

Hello Helen,

Would you happen to have any information on a James A. Webb b. about 1840 in NC who can be found in Carroll Co., TN in 1880? I can't seem to locate him anywhere in TN in the 1870 census, but his children born prior to then were all born in TN. I'm wondering if he might be part of your Rockingham, NC crew.

All records I've found for James' children place them in Weakley, Henry or Carrol County.

Thanks.

Jane

1 James A.
Hi Irene, I am a descendant of John Webb and Elizabeth Huntley Faulkner. I read your post of 3/12/01 and I was looking for info on the daughter of the above named Mary Lively Webb born abt. 1815 if you have any info on this Mary Lively. My info shows Mary lively Webb married Callum Moore. It is thought that Mary Lively Webb Moore was sometimes referred to as Sibley, and believed to have gone to the Dekalb Co. GA. area with sister Lydia Webb Smith and brother George W. Webb. Her younger brother Elijah went to Dekalb Co. GA. in the 1830's and became a prominent Pastor in the Primitive Baptist faith. Also another brother Robert H. Webb also came to Dekalb Co., GA.

The only Webb's of this family to stay behind was Eliza Knotts Webb Dabbs and half brother William Webb that was the spouse of Sarah S. Faulkner and son of John Webb and first wife Barbara Jones.

If you or anyone else has additional info on this Anson Co., NC family please contact me.

Bible of Stephen Webb and Hannah Harlan

A few years back, there was a posting from a guy that had a bible in his possession, that listed the descendants of Stephen Webb and Hannah Harlan. For about 20 years, I've had a photocopy of an old (1880) newspaper article concerning a bible that lists, first, the children of Ezekiel Webb (1747-1828) and Cordelia Jones Webb (d. 1785) of Chester County, PA, and then the children of their son Thomas Webb (1781-1860), and his wife Hester (or Esther) Paxson (1781-1868), who settled in Unionville, Chester County, PA. When the article was written (130 years ago), the bible was in the possession of an Esther Pownall of Christiana, Lancaster County, PA; I am pretty sure she was Esther Webb (b. 1831), daughter of Henry Webb and Eliza Griffith, and granddaughter of Thomas and Hester Webb. If nothing else, it would be fun to see if we could determine if the bible still exists and who has it. The attached is the photocopy of the article.

My g-g-g grandfather was Seth Webb, the same one as posted in your message. His son, Jehu (John) Augustus, was my g-g grandfather. I would love to have more information on Seth. Please reply.
thanks
Lynne (Webb) Allen
