Malitha Smith was born in Welland, Canada, on the 20th day of August, 1847. Died in Whitehall on the 9th day of June, 1917, at the age of 70 years 9 months 20 days.
She was married to David Green in 1871 and moved to Shelby, Mich., shortly after. Mr. Green died on the 7th day of October, 1890 and she was married to Merrill E. Webber on the 28th day of September, 1908.
Deceased leaves to mourn her loss, her husband, Merrill E. Webber; one son, Alba Green, of Muskegon; one daughter, Mrs. Ray Forbes of Whitehall; two step-sons, Warren E. Webber of Muskegon and Edward I. Webber of Shelby; one brother, Alby Smith of Flint; five sisters, Mrs. Almeda Lambert and Amanda Lobdell of Flint, Mrs. Nancy Richardson of Dakota, Mrs. Ada Morningstar of Shelby, and Mrs. Anna Baker of Scottville; thirteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild, besides a host of other relatives and friends.
The funeral services were held at her late home Monday afternoon, Rev. U.S. Villars, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal Church, officiating. The body was shipped to Shelby by the 6:45 pm train and burial service was held in that village Tuesday morning at ten o'clock.
