There are 2 Stephen Webster's with supposed Rev service. However, there is only 1 military service record. There is Stephen of Litchfield (1739-1823) and Stephen of Hartford (1743-1819. They are actually cousins. The NSDAR lumped them together as one person. I sent research to them showing they are separate people and now no one can join DAR with Stephen Webster until this is resolved. The sources cited on DAR lineage could be either one. I am looking for a more obscure source (diary, papers, etc.) that might lend a clue to solving this mystery. Stephen of Litchfield even has his grave marked by a DAR chapter (William Paterson) which I do not think is still in existence. Any thoughts, ideas or answers from anyone would be appreciated, or perhaps collaborate with me to solve the mystery.
