I can't help, but I'd appreciate your sharing any info you get about Wm Wedding, born in 1833.

I've been trying for years to learn the origin of John Wedding, born 1706 in the American colony of Maryland or Virginia. There's no record of him before his marriage in 1725. My father made two trips to the UK to do research and found no records of anyone named Wedding in the UK.

I have just stated working on my link to the Wedding family, but I do know that my gggrandmother America Anderson O'Brien was the daughter of John B Anderson and Mary Eliza Wedding. I beleive she was the daughter of Henry Wedding and Christina Reynolds. Her line up from Henry would be Thomas J Wedding and Mary Catherine Moore -Thomas Wedding and Eleanor Harris - J John Wedding and Elizabeth Clubb. Can you confirm this and expand on it? I appreciate any help you can give me. My email is harllinda@cableone.net

This could be James H. Wedding, son of Phillip Wedding (born ca. 1800 in Charles Co., MD) and his wife Elizabeth (birth name unknown to me).

James H. was married to Mary Elizabeth Franklin. Their daughter was named Fannie Wedding, who may have married her first cousin Peter Wedding (son of James H.'s brother Walter).

I do not know how Phillip or his descendants are related to any other Weddings. This isolated information came to my father in 1987 from Michale Mazzeo of Indian Head, MD.

Several Wedding families from Charles County went to Ohio when it was the Northwest Territory and settled in Clermont County just south of where Hillsboro is.

I have no documentation.

Weddings remaining in Charles Co.

The earliest Wedding I know of in Charles Co. was John Wedding (1706-1772). He had 7 children, 4 of them male.

I only know his grandchildren's names for two of his sons, but there were 5 male grandchildren among them.

My direct ancestors (John Wedding to John Wedding to John Wedding) left Charles County for Ohio, Indiana and Illinois. Some of the others (John Wedding to Thomas Wedding to Thomas Wedding) left for Kentucky.

There were some who stayed - the Wedding name is still not unusual in Charles County - but I don't know who they were.

(Given the early death of Elizabeth, Susannah might have been a second wife.)

G.W. Wedding's siblings were James, Henry, Franklin, Eleanor, Elizabeth, Christina Jane, and Mary. The males were all born in KY and died in Hancock Co., IL according to my information.

Wedding Surname DNA Project

My sister-in-law gave us "Genographic" kits from the National Geographic Society a year ago. I finally got around to sending in my sample a couple months ago and now have the results. [Haplogroup I (M170) for anyone who knows what that means.]

I discovered that it's possible to submit the Genographic results to the Family Tree DNA project once you have them from National Geographic.

Family Tree DNA will set up Surname Projects if there are men with the same surname willing to submit test results. The Surname Project will identify common ancestors for the men submitting samples. (The cost is about $100 per sample.)

If anyone else is interested in organizing a Wedding Surname Project, I will be willing to coordinate it (or just join it if someone else is willing to coordinate).

John Wedding, born around 1706 and died 1772 in Charles Co., MD is my direct ancestor.

More information about the National Geographic Genographic Project is available online at
https://www3.nationalgeographic.com/genographic/index.html

More information about Family Tree DNA is available online at
http://www.familytreedna.com/

I have no affiliation with either project except as a customer.

Reply here or e-mail me directly if you have questions or are interested.

Ken Wedding

I am descended through Thomas Sr., Thomas Jr., Washington and then Sarah P. who married a Miller. they were in Kentucky, mostly in Daviess county which I think is in the Northwest part of the state. Somewhere along the line they changed from Espiscopal to Methodist to Baptist. If you want any details that I have, please let me know. thanks Kat

Thomas, s/o John WEDDING 1706-1772 (MD, USA)

Thomas Wedding, Sr was son of John Wedding (1706-1772). John died in Charles Co., MD. He may have been born in the colonies, but one web site says he was born in England. However, there's no documentation for his birth, and my dad spent 20 years looking (including two trips to England). There are no records of his immigration either.

I doubt he came from Germany since he was Church of England -- see his will at http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/md/charles/wills/weddin...

There are Wedding families in Germany and Holland (I've researched there), but no connections to the MD Weddings. Descendants of John Wedding, Sr. went west to Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio in the early 19th century. My branch of the family went to Ohio and then Illinois.

If you want more details about John Wedding, Sr. or Thomas Wedding, Sr.'s siblings, ask.

Death Certificate Info: Sarah (WEDDING) GIBSON 1872-1942 KY, USA

I recently obtained a copy of the Kentucky death certificate for Sarah E Gibson (nee Wedding), whom I believe to be my G Grandmother. The informant for the death was her son Ishmael Gibson. The certificate lists her name as Sarah E. Gibson (correct - her nickname was Sallie), and lists her parents as Henry Wedding and Sarah Thompson, which is kind of (maybe, sort of) like George Henry Wedding and Eliza Jane Thompson. She is buried in St. Louis Cemetery in Henderson, KY and Rudy Rowland funeral home handled the arrangements. Her birth (15 Aug 1872) and death (11 Oct 1942) dates are also given. She was widowed when she died.

Does anyone know if George Wedding and Eliza Jane Thompson could have been known as Henry Wedding and Sarah Thompson, or are these two different couples? I live far from Henderson Co., so if anyone is inclined to photograph the gravestone, I'd love a jpeg.

According to my records, Thomas Courtney Wedding was born in Charles Co. before 1790 (and that fits with your records). He died after 1850 in Davies Co., KY.

He married Elanor Lanham April 11, 1817.

They had 3 children: Nathaniel Parker, Thomas Odendall, and Richard Henry.

I have no more information on any of these people.

I also have a second marriage by Thomas Courtney Wedding to Julian Hackett on Feb. 16, 1835. They had 2 children, Samuel P. and James.

I have no further information on these people.

A note in my father's records is, "Nelson Co., KY 1811, 3 sons: Wife (1)" also "To Daviees Co., KY with Wife (2) after 1834"

sorry, I don't know where I got 1814 from, except that my Miller line has that date, and perhaps I was looking at the wrong paper or did I type wrong, not sure. Anyway, the wedding date I have for Thomas Wedding and Mary Catherine Moore is about 1782 in charles Co, MD. It was posted by Robert Wedding in the world tree project, but in 2001. could be there is more recent material. thanks. Kathi

I made a mistake, the paperwork that I was looking at does have Thomas marrying Mary Catherine Moore, his father was also Thomas Wedding, and his wife was Eleanor Harris, according to my information, Thomas Sr. was born in 1738. I also have that there were eight children, George was second oldest, there was a Henry Wedding born in 1784 . The other children that I have are as follows:
1. Henry, b. 1784 in Charles Co, MD
2. George, b. 13 Oct 1786 in Port Tobacco, Charles Co, MD
3. ?
4. Tabitha, b. 12 Dec 1790, Charles Co, MD
5. Mary Ellen,,b. 1794, Charles Co, MD
6. Rachael, b. 1796. Charles Co, MD
7. Eliza Ann, b. 18 Jan 1800, Charles Co, MD
8. Mary Catherine, b. 1802, Charles Co, MD
Don't know if any of this agrees with your stuff or not. I got it from other postings...some of it is from Ancestory world tree project, maybe should check it and see if it is any different now....anyway, let me know if anything helps or you have further questions. thanks for your reply. That they had nine children and George was the eldest born in 1786.
Wondering why we have different spouses for Thomas.
No, I don't have the obit for Robert Sr., In my records for him, show married to Catherine unknown, born abt 1842. Children - Ida, Emma, Robt Presley, Willie, Etta, Artie(or Addie). Some of these childrens name are slightly different in the census since, hard to read but close to the other names have found. In the 1850 census, found Robert age 11 with parents Phillip and Elizabeth. The age would be right. But another family responded thinking he belongs to Caleb and Britannia(or Ann). Caleb is the son of Cecilia McDaniel and unknown Wedding. As am sure you have found, records for Maryland are not very good!
Re: GGrandfather Robert Presley WEDDING (died 1919)

According to my records his father was Robert also(unknown middle name). Other people have responded and believe Robert Sr. is the son of Caleb. Another possibility I found is Phillip born 1849-1850 on a census, but Robert is a common name and could not connect for sure.
Robert Presley was married to Irelia Frye on December 1892.
Should you have more info you can contact me - boyceblc@hotmail.com
