John David Weddle, 61, of Willis, Va., passed away Thursday, April 23, 2009, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born on December 4, 1947. He is survived by his parents, Alton and Geneva Weddle, of Willis; sister, Darnell Harris; brothers and sisters-in-law, Steve and Sandy Weddle, of Raleigh, N.C., and Tony and Vona Weddle, of Willis; daughter, Melissa Weddle; and one grandson. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John R. and Leeta Weddle, of Floyd. A veteran, John served his country in Vietnam and was awarded the Purple Heart in recognition of his service. Funeral services will be held 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 25, 2009, at the Topeco Church of the Brethren with the Rev. Roy Turpin and the Rev. Mike Varner officiating. Interment to follow at Topeco Cemetery with Military Rites by VaARNG Honor Guard and Hillsville VFW Post #1115. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral at the church.
