Your father James was always called "Jim" by the family, and he had more brothers and sisters. He had another brother named James, who only had 1 child, so it has taken a while for me to figure out who your "James" is. Anyway, Fletcher remarried Jewell Tisdale, and they had Donald, Ann Laura, Edna Mae, Winnie, Faye, and James, who most of them still live in Grapeland, Texas. I remember meeting you as a baby, and would love to contact you. Please e-mail me with any family information, as I'm just getting started on the family geneology, you may have acquired, and any questions you may still have, also I would just like to be in contact. My e-mail address is penick27@sbcglobal.net and my mother would also like for you to contact her at winnie0938@live.com.

Your cousin,
Debra

Your aunt,
Winnie

Re: Weisinger Family

My father-in-law, Arthur Weisinger, had an uncle Julius in pre-war Vienna. Perhaps this uncle got out and somehow got to Palestine (as it was then) The name does not appear on the Yad Vashem site nor was any Julius buried in the Viennese cemetery. If this is the same man then Julius's brother was my father-in-law's uncle, Jakob Weisinger came from a family of apparently 5 or 6 brothers). Jakob and his daughter and son-in-law were transported from Vienna in December 1941 to Riga and were murdered there at the same time. My father-in-law had one story about his uncle Julius. The family would be enjoying a wonderful meal and Julius would tell gruesome stories. This discouraged others from eating and so there was more for him. Anything you can pass on about the family would be most welcome.
Stephen Kurtz,
402-5151 Riverside Dr E
Windsor Ontario
Canada
N8S 4R5
sbk@cogeco.ca
Best place to get any information on Weisinger or any spelling variation is from John Weisinger at Weisinger's of Ashland. The e-mail is wine@weisinger's.com. He has a wealth of information. Several years ago we actually had a Weisinger family reunion in Ashland, OR with people from about 15 states and Europe sponsored by John and his son Eric. Incredible experience. Anyway, John is the one to contact. Regards to you all.

Merritt L.
I am a Weisinger, currently living in Israel, whose grandfather (1 of 13 kids) escaped from Europe in 1938-9 and got to Israel. He came with his wife and 5 kids. Other cousins escaped from Europe in a similar period and got to Israel. For further details about a Julius, I may have to dig into my files.

Gary Weisinger
gweisinger@hotmail.com

I just found this web site. My father, Grover C. Weisinger, grew up on a farm south of Huntsville in an area known as Blackjack. In the early 1940's he stopped to speak with the Weisinger that owned the Chevrolet agency in Conroe and as I recall developed that they were fourth cousins. My grandfather's name was Jefferson Hamilton Weisinger and his father was Michael Weisinger.
I have a son J. Steven Weisinger, an attorney in Conroe. I would like to hear of any tie in to other Weisingers. I presently live in Kingwood, Tx.

I Googled "Weisinger and Conroe" and found a page giving the history and bio of the Weisinger Chevolet agency--later Weisinger-Buckalew. Winifred B. Weisinger started the agency in 1939. Earlier he had been a partner with his brothers (no names) in a Pontiac agency that I recall seeing when passing through Conroe in the early 1930s..
JCW

I am looking for any info on Tresea (Tressie, Teresie, Theresa) Herdon. She was born Feb 1869 in Geogia and d. between 1920-1930. Tressie married Walter WEISINGER in 1891.

Walter was born in July 1872 to Samuel and Nancy in Texas, probably Montogery County. I am told that there was a huge area of land that the Weisingers took up, all of them living with in miles of each other.

Thank you for any info!

Seals

I am not a direct bloodline to the Weisingers and am only researching that line as a means to find more info on Teresa Herndon as she did have children with him.

I am sorry there isn't anything else that I could help you with.

Ah - the mysterious Samuel Weissinger who was married to Mary Ann Rebecca Weisinger. Reportedly, Mary Ann was a second cousin of Samuel. This would mean Samuel's line came from Mary Ann's great-grandfather who was Johann Jacob Wisinger, the immigrant that arrived in 1753. I only have two children for Johann JAcob, namely John Jacob and an unnamed daughter as discovered by the 1790 Charleston Dist Census. Do you have more information on this family ?
Sherrie, we need to compare notes -- did you see my eariler post regarding the possible Matthias mix-up (there was more than one Matthias in SC in the same time frame).Regarding Samuel - I have that he was probably born in the Lexington District of SC. If this is true, his eariler surname was probably WESSINGER. THis Wessinger line settled the Lexington District very early in the 1700's. Samule's family are reported to have moved to Cahawa, Alabama on the Alabama River, then moved to Old Danville, Texas in 1849. He married a second time to Nanacy Ann Weatharly and they had 6 children. Do you have the dates for either marriage ?

I have the birthdate of James Hentry edward W. as Oct 22, 1847 at Alabama and death of death as Feb 27, 1937 at Grapeland, Houston Co., Tx.. Buried at the Antrium Cemetery with the spelling Weissinger on his tombstone. Do you have any dates for his wife, Amanda Caldonia Jones and their date of marriage ?

I assume you have Mary Ann Rebecca Weisinger and Samuel Weissinger as the parents of James Henry Edward Weisinger. Mary Ann Rebecca, b 1825 is the d/o Matthias Weisinger and Leah Caroline Hornsby. Samuel, b 1818 is the s/o John and Jesse Weisinger and Samuel is reportedly a second cousin of Mary Ann Rebecca. I have been interested in the identification of this John Weisinger. According to the 1981 publication by Ruth Mae Weisinger Madeley from the Montogomery (Texas) County History, John and his brother Leonard left a little town in Wurtemburg, Germany in 1782. They landed in Charleston, SC in 1784. However, there were several John's in Charleston in the late 1700's and I've bene trying to sort them out. Do you have any additional data ?

He married Harriett Caroline Weisinger/Wisinger on Jun 6, 1841. But, I don't know anything about their family or where they lived. Harriett was born Feb 8, 1824, probably in LExington Cnty, SC and was the first child of Matthias Weisinger and LEah Caroline Hornsby. They moved to Dallas Cnty, Alabama, around 1840, then moved Houston Cnty, Texas in 1850. Does your father recall anything about his grandfather, Michael ?

OK - I have this family as WEISSINGER and with 6 children. Samuel had 5 more children with his first wife who was also a WISINGER/WEISINGER (2nd cousin reportedly, but cannot determine link).

I am VERY INTERSTED to learn more about Samuel's parents - John and Jesse - from your bible records.

There is a long standing debate regarding Samuel's parentage as a WEISSINGER or a WESSINGER. I can elaborate more off-line via direct e-mail.

Thanks
Bob
Unfortunately, I don't have all the family in my data base.

I'd suggest that you repost on the Wissinger Board, as we are encouraging a consilidation to one place, as the traffic has almost stopped on most variant boards and the spellings are so jumbled anyway. http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=board&r=an&p=S...

Also, take a look at the Wisinger family Project at http://www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/w/weisinger/patriarchs...

Terry
