Hi, I'm interested in the Weiz/Weitz who remained in Jugesheim (near Frankfurt) when my ancesters immigrated to the Dubuque, Iowa, USA in 1854. Peter 5th immigrated and his father was Peter 3rd. I have a few documents and usually the name Weiz was used. Other names that were family members were Peter Ellwanger, Adam Werner and Anna Jaeger from the same town and time. All were born about 1800 and all immigrated 1850-1855. None were rich.
I have their history in the US which I can share. I can also furnish dates for marriages and events if need be. Hope to hear from you.

We would be very interested in any information you might have on the Weitz's of Pittsburgh. Our great-grandfather, Carl Weitz, came from Coburg, Hessen, Germany and went to Pittsburg in 1878. He met and married Bellena Burson. Their son, Carl August Weitz (our grandfather) was born in Pittsburgh on August 22, 1884. The fact that your family was in Pittsburgh at the same time may mean that they were related somehow.

Please contact me at glenn@crom-a-boo.com if you can help me find out more about this branch of the Weitz family.

Thank you!

Hi,

Happy to hear from you! My Weitz family (my grandma, Katherine Weitz, her parents and her grandfather and some aunts and uncles), settled in Oshkosh Wisconsin. Although they came from the same German Volga village in Russia that your Weitz family did, Yagodnaya Polyana (Jagodnaja Poljana).

Have you had a chance to look at my Weitz website at:
http://www.webbitt.com/weitz/

I am trying to fill out the descendant chart of all the Weitzes that came from this village.

If you look at the bottom of this page:
http://www.webbitt.com/weitz/lineage.htm

I list the family that settled in Pine Island, NY at the bottom of this page:
http://www.webbitt.com/weitz/lineage.htm

1 Henrich Weitz b: Mar 1863 in Yagodnaya Polyana, Russia d. prob. in Pine Island, NY
.. +Marie "Maggie" Katherine Stang b: Dec 1865 in Yagodnaya Polyana, Russia d: 1904 in Pine Island, NY
..... 2 John Weitz b: Mar 1889 in Yagodnaya Polyana, Russia d. Sept 1963 prob. in Pine Island, NY
..... 2 Marie Weitz b: Jun 1891 in Yagodnaya Polyana, Russia
..... 2 Anna Katherine Weitz b: Jun 1894 in Yagodnaya Polyana, Russia
..... 2 Henry Weitz b: Jun 1898 in Yagodnaya Polyana, Russia
..... 2 Alexander Weitz b: aft Jun 1900 in Pine Island, NY
2nd wife of Heinrich Weitz:
.. +Katherine Elisabeth ? b: Abt. 1872 in Russia m: 1908 in Yagodnaya Polyana
..... 2 Marie ? Weitz b: abt 1901 in Yagodnaya Polyana

Is this your family? If so, I would love to tie your family into the big Weitz descendant chart on that page. My great grandfather's name was also Heinrich (Henry) Weitz, he was born in 1858. So he would only be 5 years older than your Heinrich Weitz. They probably knew each other in Russia.

We would love to post some old photos of your ancestors on the website, we have many Weitz families there. Here is my grandma with her family when she was a little girl.

http://www.webbitt.com/weitz/photo.htm#henry

Hope to hear from you soon.
Re: Henry Gustave WEITZ from Germany abt 1850 to NY

I'd love anything you know. I have not been able to find Henry on any census, including the 1860 census. I know he died fairly young, and Matilda remarried. My grandmother thought the name was Stoudt, but I have not been able to find anything about her either. Later in time, I find some of the children or their children in Boston, where Matilda supposively moved after Henry G's.death. I have seen Jacob in the census.

I know that Henry and Matilda listed their place of birth as Breslau, Schliesen, Germany, which I think is now Wroclaw Poland. ON the son Henry's death certificate, it gives that as his father's place of birth, but that was in the 1900's in Rhode Island and information was given by what was, by then, a grandson of Henry the immigrant- not always a reliable source.

So, are you saying that Henry immigrated in 1850, left a will in Buffalo NY? If so, Yes, I'd love any information.

And, anything you might have to share on the connection between Henry and Jacob. I have seen a number of Weitz families in the Buffalo area in the 1850 & 1860 census, but no Henry- Gustav or H. G. of any sort. I'd thought maybe the children would show up, but they don't either. He immigrated legally, but apparently somehow was "missed" by the census taker??

If they are related, you've solved a 40 year old brick wall for me!

Happy Fouth of July

Hi, I am trying to trace the krebs family of Ober Morlen, especially the family of Franz Krebs b.1839 and Sophia Heil b.1840 daughter of Carl Heil and Margaret (Margaretha) Krebs. I understand that Ober Morlen was only a small village and therefore most or all of Krebs family from that area should be related.
Raylene - emailslade@bigpond.com
Australia

Albinus Florenz Weitz Sr. is the one you are looking for.
Albinus Florenz Weitz Jr was the best man at my parents wedding in England in July 1944.

Hi Brad
It has been a couple of years since I talked to you. I have hit some road blocks along the way but I have been able to sort out a number of things along the way. The latest is very exciting so I thought that I would pass the infor onto you.
My GF had a brother John who stayed in Russia when my GF Conrad 1878 came to Wisconson in 1907. The family lost contact with him around 1930. Conrads (1878) father was also a Conrad (1851). A GD of Conrad's (1878) sister Elizabeth has been searching for years for the lost relative. It turns out the she put an add in a german paper asking for info about John and a lady who has roots in YP replied and it appears that we have found our my Great Uncle John. We are all convinced that the lady in Germany is the GG Daughter of John. She has the same information that I have about my GGF. She has some facinating stories of what happened. She connects to Adreas and has information on Andreas's FATHER,GRANDFATHER & GREAT GF. That means we can go back 100 years before Andreas. She also has some info on Andres's brothers & sisters who stayed in Germany . She has info about John's children (4 sons and 2 daughters. and what happened when Joseph Stalen (wrong spelling) came to power and what happened to the Germans in YP. Great uncle John was shot by the Russian around 1939 and the rest of the family was taken to Siberia around 1941. When the Berlin wall fell around 1990 the Germans were allowed to go back to Germany Its a facinating story and we are just beginning ti fill in the details. ANyways E mail Me
Our new E mail is poffenga@telus.net
Garry
I have the family here on the 1850 census. If I have any info you need, or would like, please let me know. I have a copy of Henry's will with the signatures of all of the children on it.
