Sadly I never even met him. George and my father (his son) were at odds for the last 40 years of his life. I know very little about, my father never spoke of him either. My father passed away 7 years ago, but I believe George Sr. passed away around 1999, but I'm not sure. That is the best I could come up with through searches I made on the internet. He may have even died while living in Florida. In 1954 my father would of been 13 and not sure if his father went into the service, but it could of been his older brother George Jr. (or jail). I wish I knew more about my father's side of the family, but my dad was not close with his father or his father's side.

Since I posted this in 2003, I found more ancestors to Daniel back to Germany, assuming they are correct.I have the updated gedcom on this site, but not sure how to provide a link.

I am the 3X great granddaughter of John I Welker (2 Feb.1776-22 Apr 1870)and Elizabeth Tummelson (~1780- 5 Aug 1869). I am trying to find their ancestral lines. I have a story from the Jasper Co. Heritage Book tells that "the story has been told that his father was a minuteman and died in that service". I cannot find any proof or name to varify this. I have pictures of Henry Welker and his wife Love Shivlar (my XXgrandparents) and I also have pics of tombstones of all above. I'd be happy to share my info.
svwhalen@gmail.com

You may want to contact Cindi Welker Maloney who has researched the German Welkers back to Valentine Welker, the first American immigrant in this line. She has posted on this board several times. The family lived in the area of Gratz PA and many of your ancestors are buried there. I walked the cemetery in Gratz with Cindi and saw the headstones of the people you have mentioned. My connection is to Amanda, b. 1841, an older sister to Benneville, et. al. and she is the daughter of Jonas Welker and Sarah Kocher. I am her G-G-Granddaughter.

Hey my last name is Welker, and my grandparents lived in Pittsburgh. My grandpa was Charles Welker (1920-1996).
His dad was George Charles (7/17/1888-4/21/1958), his grandpa was George Jacob (3/14/1861-1937), and his aunt was Gertrude (?-6/21/1917) (all Welker). From looking at what little I have, there's a Margaret Schmoll/Welker (1872-1947?). I don't know who her husband was, but looking at the trend of how people were named in my family that would possibly make the husband or grandfather a Jacob. Hopefully it's not a coincidence on the names. Let me know if you find anything.

So, potential tree:

Jacob Welker
Benneville Welker (1844-1915)
George Jacob (3/14/1861-1937)
George Charles (7/17/1888-4/21/1958)
Charles Welker (1920-1996)

Thanks

His dad was George Charles, his grandpa was George Jacob, and his aunt was Gertrude (all Welker). I don't know where they lived, but it's not highly unlikely that they could have moved from kentucky to pittsburgh, especially during that time period.

Let me know if this matches up with anything you find. Your info is the closest i've found so I'm pretty excited.

Don Vise and I have a lot of information posted on the Tennessee Welkers at Findagrave.com. They are all filed under Welker Cemetery with links to parents and children on each entry.

Elizabeth "Betty" Welker Morris was my great grandmother. My grandmother had a treasure trove of old pictures that I have been able to share on this site.

Hope this helps you in your search.
