This Indenture made the fifth day of May One Thousand seven Hundred & Eighty. Between Joseph Welling of Maidenhead in the County of Hunterdon and State of New Jersey of the one part & John Welling of the same place & brother to the sd Joseph of the other part. Witnesseth that the sd Joseph Welling for & in consideration of the natural love & affection which he hath & beareth towards the sd John Welling his brother & also in consideration of the sum of five pounds unto him in hand paid by the sd John Welling at & before the ensealing & delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof, the sd Joseph Welling doth hereby acknowledge & is himself therewith fully satisfied , contented and paid. Hath given, granted, bargained, sold, aligned Enfeoffed, released, conveyed & confirmed and by these Presents doth fully, freely, clearly and absolutely give, grant, bargain, sell alien enfeoff, release, convey & confirm unto the sd John Welling his Heirs & Assigns forever, a certain tract or parcel of land lying in Maidenhead aforesd, being one half part of the Plantation whereon the sd Joseph Welling now lives, and is bounded in the following manner. Viz: Beginning at the black Oak on the north side of great Shabakunk creek to a lott of land now in possession of John Nolan…then along his line north east seventeen & a half degrees, nineteen chains & twenty links to a Stone. Nolans corner, then part by Nolans & part by Hezekiah Reeds Land south east eighty two & a quarter degrees. Eleven chains & ninety two links to a Hickory in Reeds line, corner to Isabella Smith, then along her line North twenty nine degrees and forty minutes each thirty eight chains & ten links to a Stone, corner to Josiah Furman Benjamin Hart & Saml Hart’s land. Then along Harts line fifty five & half degrees West eleven Chains to a Stone in sd line, corner To the sd Joseph Welling, then bounded by his land south, forty nine & one half degrees west thirty two chains to a stone in the edge of his field, then south fifty four & a half degrees West, thirty seven Chains & seventy five links to another stone in the edge of his lower Meadow, then south thirty three degrees east thirteen Chains & a half to a stone on the end of the Saw Mill dam. Then along the middle of the Dam, south fifty degrees West, nine chains & forty links to Shabakunk aforsd then down the several courses of sd brook to the place of beginning containing one Hundred & forty five acres & a half of land. Together with all & singular the rights, Liberties, priveledges, Heriditaments & Appurtenances whatever unto the same belonging or in any use appertaining. With all the Estate, Right Title Interest, Claim and Demand of the sd Joseph Welling of in, to or out of the aforesaid premises & every part thereof. To Have and to hold the above described land and premises with their & every of their appertenances unto the sd John Welling, his Heirs & Assigns to his & their own proper use, benefit & behoof for ever. The sd Joseph Welling for himself, his heirs , Executors & Assigns doth covenant, grant and agree to & with the sd John Welling, his heirs and Assigns that He, the sd Joseph Welling now at the time of the Ensealing & delivery hereof, is the true, sole & only lawful owner of sd land & premises with their appurtenances. & is seized thereof of a good, sure, perfect & absolute estate of inheritance in fee simple & that he now hath good right & full power, lawful & absolute authority to sell the same & every part thereof unto the said John Welling, his Heirs & Assigns for ever & that the sd John Welling his Heirs & Assigns shall & may from time to time and at all times forever hereafter lawfully, peaceable and quietly have, hold, use, occupy , possess and enjoy the above Granted land & premises without the debt, suit, trouble, claim, challenge or demand of him the sd Joseph Welling or his heirs or any other person or persons claiming by, from or under him or them. In Witness whereof, the sd Joseph Welling hath herewith sett his hand and seal the day and year first above written. Anna Domini 1780. Joseph Welling (Sd) Sealed and Delivered I the presence of us; John Watson, Wm Snowden, Jonathan Hutchinson Received May 5th 1780 of John Welling five pounds in full of the consideration money within mentioned by me. Joseph Welling State of New Jersey, Hunterdon On the sixteenth day of March 1796 before me, James Ewing, one of the Judges of the Court of Common please in said County, Personally appears Joseph Welling, the within Grantor and did acknowledge that he signed, sealed & delivered the within Instrument for the purchases. Therein mentioned acknowledged before me, James Ewing.

Brought to be recorded the 1st June 1801 and recorded the sixth of same month. Examined and agrees with the original. John Beatty, secy.
