Hello. My family has in its possession a very small, very old book, entitled "A Few Facts concerning Roger WELLINGTON and some of his Descendants." It was written and published by A. W. GRISWOLD in 1892 in Belmont, MA.
From handwritten notes in the book, this appears to be:
Mrs. Adeline WELLINGTON (HOMER) GRISWOLD
I'm curious whether anyone else has a copy of this book, or whether anyone else has seen it !
FYI: One of my ancestors was Betsey HOMER, b1786 in Cambridge, MA, to Capt. ____ HOMER and Elizabeth LORING. In 1813, Betsey HOMER married Thomas M. HUTCHINSON in Charlestown, MA. Mrs. Betsey HUTCHINSON died in 1858 in Winchester, MA.
They had 6 children, one of them being Jacob HOMER HUTCHINSON, who married Eliza CROSBY, daughter of John CROSBY and Mary BUCKNAM of Arlington, MA.
Jacob and Eliza HUTCHINSON had a daughter, Adelaide CROSBY HUTCHINSON in Winchester in 1851, and she was my great-grandmother.
There were 2 large HUTCHINSON Farms in Winchester, MA, and Jacob was one of 4 siblings who inherited the land in the 1800's. But, when the land was "left" to my great-grandmother (Adelaide's daughter) in 1936, there were names on the DEED which I did not recognize: SPICER (MABIE) and LYNCH. They supposedly were cousins.
Some on-line investigating last night and this morning showed a possible WELLINGTON connection to the HUTCHINSON, DODGE, SYMMES, and MABIE families in Brooklyn, NY, in the mid-1800's (all from Winchester, Arlington, Cambridge, or Charlestown, MA).
__
Our family probably has this old book because it came from the attic of our great-grandmother's farmhouse (one of the HUTCHINSON Farms in Winchester, MA). So, there should be a definite connection between those families and the families in Arlington and Belmont in 1800's - through the HOMER and WELLINGTON surnames.
