THE ONLY OTHER WELLONS THAT SERVED IN THE CIVIL WAR WAS JAMES WELLONS. HE SERVED WITH THE 5TH N.C. REGIMENT WAS WOUNDED IN THE LEFT EYE AT GETTYSBURG ON 7/1/63 CAPTURED AT
SPOTSYLVANIA COURT HOUSE AND DIED IN A PRISON
CAMP IN ELMIRA, N.Y. HE DIED 3 DAYS BEFORE GENERAL LEE SURRENDERED. HE CAME FROM JOHNSTON COUNTY N.C.
