From Deed book D, page 188 and 189, 8 July 1813, Campbell County, Kentucky, Court Records. This Indenture made the eighth-day of July in the year of our Lord, eighteen hundred and thirteen- Between William Wells late to the Indiana Territory deceased and the said William Turner and Anne his wife being now in the County of Campbell and state of Kentucky of the one part and Nathan Heale of the same County and state of the other part witnesth that the said William Turner and Anne his wife for and in consideration of the sum of five hundred dollars of lawful money- by the said Nathan to the said William Turner in hand. William Turner and his wife Anne have sold to the Nathan- all the said tenements lying in the state of Ohio and in the Indiana Territory, which the said Anne is entitled to as one of the children of the above named William Wells, dec'd. Singned personally by Anne Turner.

Note: Anne Turner, Alias Hackley, Rebecca Hackley, and Jane S. Wells, each received one section land to be under the direction of the president of the United States, October 23rd 1826- From: The American State Papers" mentioned in the Treaty with the Miami Tribe, at the Wabash, Lewis Cass, James B. Ray & John Tipton Commissioners. Also see: To Ann & Jack Hackley, one section each, of land, between the St. Joeseph's Rivers, October 23 1826.

Captain William Wells was a white man. He was stationed at Fr. Wayne, Indiana. He was adopted into the Miami Tribe by Chief Little Turtle. he married as his first wife Little Turtles sister Anahquah, and upon her death he married Wahmangopath another daughter. His third wife was white, the daughter of Colonel Frederick Geiger of Kentucky. three daughters and two sons were born of the first marriage (1.) Anne Wells, who married Doctor William Turner (2.) Rebecca Wells who married Captain James Hackley (3.) Mary Wells who married Judge James Wolcott. William Wells had two sons by his second wife( 4.) William Wayne Wells (5.) Samuel G Wells. He had one daughter (6.) Juliana by his second wife who died in infancy and one daughter who lived (7.) Juliana Turner Wells who married John H. Griggs. His third wife was white by her he had (8.) Yelberton Wells. this son was a West Point Cadet.
