I'm my father's third daughter and he is 71 years old and knows very little of his father who died when my Dad was 6 (1935). I thought it would be a nice birthday gift to try and find some information on his father's family. He knows his mother's history back to the founding fathers! The problem is this, I believe his (Edward's) marriage to my grandmother Sarah Boatwright to be his second marriage. What my Dad does know of his father was told to him by his Mom. This is what I've learned. Edward is believed to be originally from NJ (Hackettstown or Morristown). He had a daughter and 2 sons from his first marriage. He was the eldest in his family. His family was in the banking business and he was disowned as a result of divorcing his first wife (scandal!). He met my grandmother some years later at a church social in the South (she was from Mississippi). When they met, she was around 30 years old and he about 55! It was her first marriage. My father is named, Charles David Welsh and was born 8/13/29 in El Paso, TX. He grew up in Monroe, LA. His Mom was a High School mathematics teacher. I was named Kristie after my grandfather's middle name. Would love to hear from anyone who may know a tidbit or more. Thanks!
