Need the missing WENDEL link to family

My greeat Uncle always said our family was connnected to a wealthy family from NY named WENDEL but didn't know how. I found a newspaper article from 1931 which states that my great, great grandfathers daughter, Elizabeth DEISE (nee REDING) made a claim against the estate of Miss Ella WENDEL of NY. Mrs. DEISE claims she is a descendant of Miss. WENDEL by way of Miss WENDEL's grandfather John Gottlieb WENDEL. Supposedly, Mrs. DEISEs' grandmother was a niece of John Gottlieb WENDEL. Though the name of the grandmother is not given in the article I believe her name was Elizabeth and she married John REDING about 1850. I've tried to research the elusive and interesting WENDEL family but have not been able to find the link.
Does anyone have information that might help me find thie missing link?
I'm just starting in my study of the Windle / Wendel, etc. families. I try to find all the descendents I can of my 5ggrandparents. In this case I'm interested in the descendents of Christopher Wendel of Framersheim, Palatinate, Germany b 1716 who married Mary Catherine Brumbach. Their daughter Catherine / Katherine married John Conrad, Jr. b 1760 which is the start of my own line. I've got a lot on the Conrad lines and have known of Christopher Wendel for several years but haven't tried finding all his descendents. I've started a tree/database which has about 1500 descendents of Christopher, but am now at the stage where I need some orientation as to what online trees can be trusted and what should be avoided. I'd be glad to talk to you or some others who have been researching these lines for a while to find where to go next.

Wendels in Cincinnati

I am actually working on the Dürstock line. However, I have three Dürstocks marrying three Wendels in Cincinnati:

Bernard Duerstock married Anna Maria Wendell 9-1-1844,
Johan Bernard Duerstock married Maria Theresa Wendel 9-3-1850, and Heinrich Duerstock married Maria Anna Wendell 6-28-1853. In addition, in the Death Notice for Bernard, he has a daughter-in-law who is a Wendel. The 1860 Census has one of the married Duerstocks living two doors away from the father, John Wendel, who is listed as a "Gentleman". I'm really curious about the connections between these two families.

Re: Wendel Family Russingen, Germany

I am a great or great-great grandson in this exact line.
There are many relatives, perhaps thousands, from a branch of this family that your and my Wendel's married into. I recently found out about them after being told as a child that the Wendel's were 'DeWendel' s and were related to 'French nobility'.
None of that was true, they are all German. My GrandMother, Marie Magdalena Borger's Mother was Julianna Wendel. Her sisters were all old maids in an old house in Cleveland that was torn down to make way for a school. Their Father, Johann Jacob Borger, or 'Jack' or 'Jake' as he was known in life in Cleveland had sons that I barely know. The name Clyde Gourley is, however, known to me, as well as an 'Aunt Valetta'.
My wife Maxine who does a lot of genealogy research and is tireless and indefatigable at it, dug this post up as well as another one an printed it out for me. I am posting this to the post as your e-mail appears unavailable or the address of someone else. By the sixteenth of May, the e-mail address that this system gives out as the registered e-address of us as posters will change to maxlee@lakeside1.net. If you post after then to the old address there will be no forward, and if this system deletes e-addresses you will not see the new address.

My great grandparents were John Wendel and Eva(gb)Wagner. They immigrated in 1886 and were headed for "West Bene" according to the Ship roster. They wound up in Milaukee and stayed there until about 1933 and then moved to Waukesha.I am still trying to connect them to other Wendels and Wagners, but so far have not gotten very far. Do you know what part of Germany your Wendel's were from? All I have been able to find is Bavaria. I do have the name of the village or town from a Family Bible; the only problem is, no one can figure out where that is. Right now the information is with some peoople from Germany that were going for Christmas and said they would have all their friends and family work on finding the town. If you've come across more info,it would be interesting to hear from you.
