Hi, I just found this website and was surprised to find so much Wendorfs interested in their roots. I am a student from Germany and you might be interested to get to know that the name Wendorf comes from the small German tribe named "Wenden" which live up to the middle ages in north west Germany in the area of Mecklenburg and Pommer. As "dorf" means village, our family name can be translated as "Wenden's village". I hope you find that interesting.
Concerning my family I just know that my greatgrandfather was Paul Wendorf, a gardener in Blumenhagen in Pommern an he died in 1915 when he was about 30-40 years old. He married Maria Schenk from Schlesien, I know nothing about further relatives in this generation, just that the names Paul, Georg and Josef where very popular in this family. If you think you are a relative, I would be glad to hear from you. Anyway, as we are all Wendorfs, one might consider to organize a Wendorf Meeting someday.
Any Wendorf is welcome to contact me.
