Surnames: Wendt, Ebeling
My stepdaughter's ancestor, Diedrich H. Ebeling, was married to an Emma Wendt on 5 October 1898 in Cook County. They had two sons, Elmer Ebeling b. 1899 and Richard Ebeling born about 1901.
Apparently Emma Wendt Ebeling died on 23 November 1915 in Chicago at age 38. (She was born October 1877 in Illinois.)
It seems that Diedrich then married a Frieda or Freda Wendt, a widow with a young son, Leslie Wendt, born about 1905. Perhaps Freda was a sister-in-law to Emma Wendt. Freda was also born about 1877.
Any help in untangling these family relationships is sincerely appreciated.
