If this fellow is a direct ancestor and you really need this info:

go here:
https://eservices.archives.gov/orderonline/start.swe?SWECmd=...

sign up first or you will be prompted to later and then you will need to start over.

click on "order reproductions"
then "Military Service and Pension Records"
then decide which records you wish to order,
I have found the paper copies sometimes get you much more information.
The CD/DVD is nice but when I have ordered both I have found less is on the CD.
If this fellow is a direct ancestor and you want to get all the info you can, spend more and get everything, sometimes including not only the person but his wife or wives and his children and all their dates.
If you are short on cash
Federal Military Pension Applications - Pension Documents Packet (NATF 85B) for less.
I have found tons of awesome info in these records.
good hunting

Thanks for the reply to my posting.

Here's all I have on John Wenrich:

JOHN H. WENRICH died on December 29, 1880(?). His widow, Louisa Unknown, is found in the June 1890 Special Schedule for Selinsgrove, Snyder County, Pennsylvania Census. She applied for a pension on July 10, 1890. John is buried in the Baker (now Evergreen) Cemetery, Selinsgrove.

Thanks,

Joe
morse73@ptd.net

I am looking for more proof that my Magdalena Wenrich who married Jonathan Bickel is the daughter of John Wenrich born Nov 11, 1760 died May 16, 1827, wife Susanna Brecht. Magdalena was born June 22, 1803 and died Dec 27, 1880 both her and Jonathan Bickel are buried in the North Heidelberg Cemetery., Cem. record reads Magdalena nee Wenrich., also from book "History of Berks CO. PA." by Morton Montgomery p. 461., a rather large Bickel family history is given., under Jonathan Bickel gives wife Magdalena Wenrich daughter of Johannes Wenrich.

Has anyone seen the probate record for John Wenrich that might name children? I found a posting for part of his estate on a webpage and one of the things in his Probate records was a "Challenge to the John Wenrich Will" By Jonathan Bickel trying to prove that John Wenrich was of unsound mind and memory and understanding all which Jonathan Bickel can plainly prove. This is dated May 6, 1827 signed Jonathan Bickel. This does not exactly prove his wife was the daughter of John Wenrich, but clearly shows that he must have had some interst in the family or maybe that his own wife was not named in the will as a daughter or something?

Everything I can find on John Wenrich is that he had 7 children: Valentine, John, David, Daniel, Elizabeth, Sarah and Susan.

1800 census shows him with 4 boys and 4 girls! of course one could have died.

Do you have any leads to my Magdalena Wenrich Bickel daughter of Johannes???

Thank you

I would be interested in all Wenrich information, and sent an email to your posted address a little while ago with my contact info. I assume your data is digital, but will supply snail mail address if needed.
I have been trying to get death certificates for the 2 Samuel A. Wenrichs, and Carrie Roth Wenrich, but am having trouble due to lack of actual death dates, and not even a
confirmed year or County at time of death. I assumed County to be Lehigh since they are buried there, but might be Northampton County. The last address I had for them in 1920 was South Bethlehem, PA. At the cemetery, there is only a tombstone for Carrie with only the year, 1927.
Do you know a death date for the elder Samuel A. and his wife Emma (Wert) Wenrich?
Keep me posted when your website is up!
Thanks, Don

Thank you for responding to my post. Yes, I am descended from Samuel A. Wenrich and Emma Wert. They were my Great grandparents, though I never knew them. My line is through their son, Samuel Andrew and his wife Carrie (Roth) married in 1910. We knew that his father Samuel's middle initial was "A" but did not know for sure if it was also Andrew (His son never went by "Jr." on any documents we have seen.) My father LeRoy Albert Wenrick (Note the K instead of H) and his 5 siblings were orphaned as children when Carrie died in 1927 and Samuel (Jr.) died in 1928. My father and his sister, the 2 youngest, were placed in an orphanage where their name eventually was altered, while the older ones went to relatives. I would be interested in any information you have on this line, especially prior to Samuel (Sr.) and his siblings, as well as Emma Wert's ancestors. I have very sparse and questionable info going back through what I believe is Daniel Wenrich’s father Joseph, back to his probable brother Thomas and father Thomas and a possible relative John, going back as far as 1790. The oldest I have on the Wert family so far is 1880 Census with Joseph and Sophia as parents, if that is correct? I have always wondered about the Civil War Wenrichs, if any were related. I will gladly share anything I have that would be of interest to you. Would you prefer direct email for data?
Thanks again!
Yes! That is our branch, Daniel Wenrich b. 10 Oct 1810 and Lucinda (Mader/Meder) Wenrich, b. about 1819, daughter of Daniel Mader and Anna Weiser. Mary Catherine was born 22 Sept 1844. Daniel and Lucinda's children were: John Joseph, Amos Mader, Mary Catherine, Daniel Enoch, Lucinda Elizabeth, Samuel Andrew, Sarah Justina, Susanna A.,Josephine Leah, Ida Henrietta, and Anna Elspy Wenrich. This Samuel Wenrich was born on 26 Jul 1851 and married Emma Wert, but I have no information on their descendants. Is Emma Wert in your line?
I have a lot of information on the family. Father Daniel and sons, John Joseph, Amos and Daniel E. were all in the Civil War. I'd be happy to share all my info. with you.

Can you tell me if your Mary Catherine Wenrich's father was Daniel Wenrich (b.about 1811)and her mother Lucinda (Meder? or Madder?)(b. about 1819)? I am decended from Daniel and Lucinda's son Samuel Wenrich, who would be Mary Catherine's younger brother, born about 1853, living in WEST Hanover Twp., Dauphin Co., in 1860. Was Mary Catherine born about 1845? See 1860 Census-M653 R1103 P233

They are listed in the 1870 census in East Hanover Twp, Dauphin Co. Annie married Elias Mumma, and they are buried at the Wenrich Cemetery, with William's parents, John and Rebecca (Stoudt) Reese.
Mahlon Wenrich

On a recent visit to Berks Co., PA I found the following headstones in the Reed Cemetery, Stouchsburg, PA:
Mahlon Wenrich 30 Oct 1825-7 Nov 1895 aged 70Y 7D
Harriet Wenrich 17 Oct 1830-31 Oct 1909 aged 79Y 14D
Martin H. Wenrich 13 Sep 1859-1Dec 1913 aged 54Y 2M 18D
Emma I. Wenrich died 7 Apr 1922 aged 59Y 5M 24D
Joseph H. Wenrich 9 Sep 1863-15 Nov 1949 aged 86Y 2M 6D

Upon returning home I searched to try to find how these people fit into the Wenrich tree. The only listings for Mahlon Wenrich have him as the son of Joseph Wenrich/Elizabeth Denham, but have him dying in 1869. He is listed as marrying Harriet Harp, d/o Henry Harp & Nancy Nagle.

The 1880 Census, Marion Twp., Berks, PA lists:
Mahlon Wenrich, 54, farmer; Harriet, 54, wife; Martin, 20, son; Joseph, 16, son; Joseph, 80, father, retired farmer.

It appears that Mahlon is the son of Joseph, but his death date has been listed incorrectly. Does anyone have the same information on his dates that I do? Help!

I am looking for information about the wife of William Wenrich (1834-1901), buried in Glendale cemetary? in Middleburg, Pennsylvania. This would be my great-great-great grandfather and I have no information on the name, origins or burial site of his wife. If anyone can point me in the right direction I'd greatly appreciate it! William Wenrich had a son, Charles Henry wenrich (2/20/1867-11/19/1941), married to Elizabeth Lenig (or Lennig?) and had other sons and daughters who were: Jabe? or Tabe? Wenrich, George Wenrich (buried in Altoona, PA), Sarah Wenrich Smith, Frank Wenrich (buried in Glendale cemetary Middleburg, PA), and Micheal Wenrich (6-6-1875 to 1-10-1939, also buried in Glendale cemetary, Middleburg, PA).

I am looking for a name or information of the WIFE of William Wenrich, who I am assuming is the mother of the children listed above. Thanks for the help!

This William Wenrich had two wives - first, a Roseanne or Rosina. She died sometime between 1870 and 1880. With her, William had Gabriel (my ancestor), William, Charles, and Franklin. After she died, William married Lucy Ann (Derk). I'm fairly positive about this information. Between 1870 and 1880, William had a daughter Susan, and two more sons: Michael and George, though I cannot say who their mother was, as I am uncertain of Rosina's date of death.

Feel free to e-mail me for more information.

~Kristin

Joseph Wenrich - Selinsgrove, PA Looking for information

Hi! I'm looking for information on the family of Joseph Wenrich. He was probably born in 1817, but he might have been born as late as 1821 or so. His wife, Anna or Ann was born in July 1824. Her maiden name *might* have been Miller. From at least 1850, this family resided in Selinsgrove or the Selinsgrove area of Snyder County, Pennsylvania.

Joseph and Ann had at least the following children:
1. John – 1843
2. Simon – 1845
3. Joseph – 1848
4. George – July 1850
5. Milton - 1854 m. Josephine ?
6. Robert – 1859
7. McClellan – 1861
9. Lillian? – 1874 (it's possible she was a granddaughter and not a daughter)

Anna died after 1900 and Joseph died between 1880 and 1900. Joseph was a blacksmith. It is probable that there is a family connection to John (or Johannes) Wenrich, who lived in Lower Mahanoy Township, Northumberland County. When John and his wife died in 1859/1860, they left some underage daughters (Catharine Ann, Susannah, and Emma), and Joseph Wenrich was appointed their guardians. Johannes was probably the son of Thomas and Rosina Wenrich. Because of his being appointed his daughter's guardian, I would imagein that Joseph and Johannes are no farther apart then second cousins, possibly first cousins. THey are probably not brothers.

Any information about this family, specifically Joseph's origins, would be greatly appreciated!

Feel free to contact me at kristin8881@yahoo.com
Thank you!

Info about son of Thomas and Rosina Wenrich (Northumberland County, PA)

I'm looking for information on Johannes Wenrich, son of Thomas and Rosina Wenrich. I have found some online family trees that have this son being born on Jan. 26, 1804, and I have only found one source listed for this information and that is the Wenrich Family Revisited book. I am wondering if anyone has this book, or if they have any further information regarding this son of Thomas.

I ask this question because my ancestor was Johannes Wenrich, b. 17 Jan 1804 (according to tombstone). Additionally, Thomas and Rosina were sponsors at the baptism of my Johannes's son, William (or Wilhelm) at the Stone Valley Church in Northumberland County, PA. I have a feeling that my Johannes and Thomas's Johannes are the same people, but the birthday is throwing me off.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

In "The Leonards and Related Families" c.1993 (Clark McCue Leonard) there is a very nice photo of Christ Lutheran Church in Stouchsburg, where many Wenrichs were married, including Christina and Peter Leininger (06-23-1778).

I have a Peter Leininger (born 9/21/1755) married to Christina Wenrich (born 2/5/1761). Children include Anna Catharina, Maria Eva Rosina, Johan Adam, Anna Maria, Johan George, John, Frederick (born 11/11/1790), Elizabeth, Jacob, Susanna, Christina, Peter, Daniel, Catharine, and George. Frederick died 3/14/1878 in Millcreek, PA. He was apparently married three times. Does this sound like your F. Leininger?
