Marie J. Wentworth, 93,
of Guys Mills, died Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at the Meadville Medical Center. She was born in Meadville May 23, 1917, a daughter of George and Naomi Brunot Laibe. She married H. Paul Wentworth August 19, 1941 and he preceded her in death November 27, 1987. She was a homemaker and assisted her husband, Paul, and her brother-in-law, Gaylord Wentworth, in the operation of Wentworth Auto Sales. Previously, she had also worked at Drafto in Cochranton and American Viscose in Meadville. She was a 1934 graduate of Randolph East Mead High School, where she played on the girls basketball team. She was a member of St. Hippolyte Roman Catholic Church and its Alter and Rosary Society. She was a Life Member of the Black Ash Sportsman's Club and the Oil Creek Beagle Club. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, sewing, knitting, crocheting, playing the piano and playing card and board games. She was also active at the Guys Mills Senior Center and she water walked at the Meadville YMCA. Survivors, include: four sons, Thomas P. Wentworth and his life partner, Helen Shaeffer, of Guys Mills, William C. Wentworth and his, wife, Carole, of Eagle, Colo., John R. Wentworth and his wife, Lynn, of Guys Mills, and James L. Wentworth of Guys Mills; five grandchildren, Paul Wentworth, Amy Wentworth, Jeff Wentworth and his wife, Annarita, Michael Wentworth and his wife, Johanna, and Erin Wentworth; one great-grandson, Sammy; a niece, Ann Brill; and two nephews, Phil Wentworth and Ron Hoffman. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, two sisters, Alma and Louise; and a nephew, Roger Hoffman. Calling hours will be Friday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut St., Meadville with a Scripture Prayer service at 8:45 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Hippolyte Roman Catholic Church, 25997 State Hwy 27, Guys Mills with Fr. Dennis Veltri, Celebrant. Interment will be in St. Hippolyte Cemetery. The family suggests memorials be made to St. Hippolyte Roman Catholic Church, 25997 State Hwy 27, Guys Mills, PA 16327, or the Meadville YMCA, 356 Chestnut St., Meadville, PA 16335.
