Her was born in Bavaria, 1820. Emmigrated to Baltimore, MD in 1845. Married Catherine Batzer (b.1831, Bavaria) in 1852. After his death, Barbara and the 5 kids moved out west and spread out to Denver, Salt Lake City and California. I have found newspaper articles that say he was an heir of the Metzinger Estate in Holland. His wife and kids were set to inherit $1M each around 1910. Looking for any information on him and his family and info on living descendants. I have information that her father was Johann Karl WERB - mother Maria Elisabetha SCHRÖDER. Now here's one problem: I've been searching the OFB Hartfeld, (Ortsfamilienbuch, city family book) and found Johann Karl WERB (b. 16 Aug 1748 in Herborn, Hessen), entry no. 748, but Anna Eva GERHARD(T) is listed as his wife. Listed are two children; Maria Elisabetha b. 14 Mar 1769 in Herborn and Johann Peter b. 01 Jul 1774 in Herborn. There is a Karl WERB who married Maria Elisabetha SCHRÖDER (entry no. 749), but no information on birth or the children mentioned with my other sources! Children for the marriage are 1) Georg Friedrich, b. 11 Dec 1789 in Hartfeld, 2)Christina Katharina, b. 04 Feb 1791 in Hartfeld, 3) Eva Elisabeth, b. 11 Jun 1793 in Hartfeld. The problem - Maria Dorothea was born in Herborn on 30 Sept 1770...who were her parents, assuming that Johann Karl WERB and Karl WERB are the same person, they do have in common the same house numbers in Hartfeld (104/25) encompassing the same years, almost. My previous sources say that her parents are Johann Karl WERB and Maria Elisabetha SCHRÖDER? I think it's more likely that her mother was Anna Eva GERHARD(T) just by the dates, or Johann Karl had an affair with Maria Elisabetha SCHRÖDER!
