Surnames: Werck Werk Weeks
Looking for info on relatives of Xavier Leon Jean Michel Werck who came to Cincinnati and became Michael Werk. I have what appears to be his Birth Certificate (roughly translated below). He owned the Werk Soap Co. He is buried in Spring Grove Cemetery.
Birth Certificate: "The year thousand eight hundred and seven, February eight, in front of us François Joseph Hupffel, Provisional Mayor, performing the functions of public officer of the civil state of the commune of Marlenheim, Canton of Wasselonne, department of the Low-Rhine, are appeared Louis Werck, tax collector of the direct taxation, domiciled to Kircheim, presents a child of the male sex of him declaring and his wife Marieanne Schneider, age of forty one years, which child was born today at eleven hours in the morning, to which child he stated to want to give the first name Xavier Leon Jean Michel. Of my statement and presentation made in presence of Antoine Cabaret, Captain of the imperial Customs, thirty seven years old, and Jean Baptist, champion officer from the above customs, twenty eight years old, both domiciled in this my commune, who signed like witnesses with the father declaring, and us."
