David,
I gather that Fred Burt, son of Thomas Burt and Sarah Jane Werry, married to Hilda May Matthews is your great grandfather. I am the Aunt Annie that you wrote to on Ancestry.com. Please reply to me at auntannie7@hotmail.com and we can talk. I am very excited to know of your relationship.
I work with a man in Cornwall that I found through RANDOM ACTS OF GENEALOGICAL KINDNESS. He has been very helpful to me and is actually the one who found me the connection to the Burt family. If you have read all the threads of the Ancestry emails, you know that my mother was a Werry.

I would very much like to talk to you. Please contact me. M

I live in Westmoreland County, PA.....is there any type of look up that I can do for you? You might contact the DAR library in Mt. Pleasant PA. That's where Mary Werry married -- Kantorik and they might have history of more of this family. The curator is Roslyn Ashmun and her phone is 724-423-3275 I'll look at home this evening to see what I have on the Werry's in my KANTORIK family tree.

Kim

Samuel Thomas Werry was born in 1890 in Broadford, Blaine, Idaho. He was killed in WW1 in Belgium. His remains were sent back to his family in Idaho. He was my great grandfather's brother. My mother was Margie Werry born in Bellevue, Idaho, very near Broadford (which doesn't exist anymore). My great great grandmother never got over the death of her youngest child, Sam. He was the baby of 11 children, 7 of whom lived to adulthood. Sam never married. He was 28 at the time of his death. I am very curious as to what it is you have that belonged to him! M

Re: Werry family tree - not the Canada Werry's - Ohio and West Virginia

Hi Candice....I read your post with great interest since I have a very large block of ...Werry's in my family. All came through NYC then head west. Many stopped in PA, Ohio, IL, IND while the rest continued west to Colorado, Nevada and Idaho. I had to smile at your reference to "Canada Werry's" and your insistence that they were not part of your family. If you check transporation routes in the late 1800's you are going to find that Ohio really is not that far from Canada :-) Only because sometimes it was less painful to land in Canada rather thatn NYC or Boston. Several of my root Werry families came through Canada on their way to the America West. You may also want to check connections between Cornwall, England and Germany. Mining really didn't have that many barriers - when you needed to work and provide for your families.

Just a thought,

Best wishes,

David
Irvine, California

Werry family tree - not the Canada Werry's - Ohio and West Virginia

I know a lot of Werry's are based in Canada and, we aren't related to them even though our name is spelled the same. I know for a fact my own family comes out of Germany and, came over from Germany no earlier than the early 1900's. We still have family living in Germany and, I am afraid I've lost them.

We're looking to find out who is in our family tree. Charles Werry out of Pomeroy, Ohio was my Great-Grandfather, married Lucretia Duncan-Werry.

Their children are; Margaret Werry-Phelps - of Dayton, Ohio
, Catherine Werry (died at age 19),
the late Walter Werry (married to Estele "Sis" Werry) of Mason, WVA
Paul Werry married to Connie Werry of Florida
The late "Pidge" Werry of Ohio
Also, my Grandfather, the late John E. Werry of Pomeroy, Ohio who married Margaret "Jeannie" Bryant and had two sons;
Mark Werry of Pomeroy
and the late Jeff Werry (my Father) of Florida

If you can trace yourself to these people - we're looking for you to construct a family tree.

He Died in 1790 in Greenwich, Berks, Pennsylvania, USA. He was married to a Barbara Baum, born 1729 in Ingweiler, Zweibrucken, Germany. She died After 1759 in Greenwich, Berks, Pennsylvania, USA.
Wery

Looking for Wery...any info any one can give me would be wonderfull.here is the Info that we have so far.. Camille Wery's grandfather, Dena Wery did a family tree once and couldn't get anywhere with the name Wery. Reason when Grampa Camille Georges grandfather came to America probably in the 1800s his name was Jean Babtiste Tedewett, we all seen the birthcert. but the name was on the crease but leona wery told us that was his name and he came to America from Belgium and changed his name to John Michael Wery, he had a music store in Butler Pa now I asked lots of quiestions and the only answers were very guarded, I asked my Gramma, Lenoa Wery where his wife was and she said he never brought her with him, that maybe he just left. This made me wonder why he changed his name. My Uncle Camille Wery heard of him but never to his knowledge seen him. He was referred to as old man Tedewett. At any rate Dena Wery could only go as far as Butler PA on the name Wery and Lenoa Wery said that was because he changed his name from Tedewett. He came from Belgium and took a Belgium name.I would have to believe his children Great Grampa John Wery and his brother were born here since they have the name Wery I have asked around only one aunt is left in Butler and she didn't answer my letter.

Harold Weary is to be commended for his research on the Weary family. I am a descendant of the Johann Jacob Weary who married Margaret Sassamon and later Rebecca. Their eldest daughter Margaret does not appear by name on the 1840 census of Ohio but is Jacob's and Margaret daughter - she married James Franklin Rickon and they migrated to Wisconsin appearing on the 1860 census living with her brother Solomon and his family in Walworth County, WI. She settled in Sauk County as did her sister Sarah who married Jonas Westenhaver. Three siblings of Margaret and Sarah migrated to Missouri.
Any information on Jacob Weary and his two wives would be greatly appreciated.
Linda Drews

My dad William Werry in Saskatchewan had a first cousin in Holland that tracked him down and traced the Werry roots back quite a ways. Did you know group of us were known as "The Goat riders"? other spelling is Veri and the dutch spelling Werrij. it converted to Werry because when you wrote the name out and dinot dot the i and j it looked like a Y.
http://members.lycos.nl/theawerrij/page13.html

http://www.paulturner.ca/Werry/Werry/Early%20History%20-%20W...

Richard Werry
