I am descended from Henry West. Henry West was born in Union County, North Carolina in 1785. He was married to Elizabeth “Betsy” West, born about 1786 in NC, and had eight children as follows:
Jesse West born May 7, 1807
Mary (Polly) West born December 23, 1809
Arena (Reney) West born September 15, 1811
James West born April 21, 1812
Henry Jackson West born May 4, 1822
Michael West born January 4, 1824
William R. West born April 5, 1828
Stephen Berry West born September 12, 1830
Four of the children were in Alabama by 1850, namely, Jesse, Arena, Henry and William R. The other four lived near him in Chesterfield Co., SC when the 1850 census was taken. These being, Mary (Polly) West Threat, whose husband was Green Threat, James and wife Nancy Elliot West, Michael and wife Nancy Beaver West, and Stephen Berry West, who was age 20 and residing in the household of his father.
Henry West owned land in Chesterfield Co, SC (from records found in Washington, DC). Henry was born in 1785 in North Carolina and died 1854 in Union County, North Carolina. Elizabeth (unknown) West was born in 1786 and died before 1860.
My line is from William R. West and William R. West's son Stephen. William R. West was born in South Carolina. He married Martha Gibbs Waters who was born about 1828 in South Carolina. They moved to Marion, Alabama sometime before September 1858 and he died January 9, 1903 in Marion, Alabama. They had three children as follows:
George West born in SC abt 1853
Stephen West born in SC abt 1855
Lina Eliza Harriett West born September 11, 1858 in Alabama.
Stephen T. West was born about 1855 and married Ella M. Hooks born in 1854. She died in Marlboro County, SC. Ella’s parents were George W. Hooks born in 1828 in Columbus County, NC and Elmira J. Molton born in 1831 in Anson County, NC. George Hook’s parents were George Washington Hooks and Susan Bright Hooks. Robert West was their son. No other information about siblings, if any.
I know some lived in Scotland County, but I don't know about Robeson County except that Joyce West married an Osbourne and her family is still in and around St. Pauls. Joyce was my aunt.
I hope this helps some.
